Mistake happens. Its good if they can honor the price, its OK if they don't want to.
It bothers me that they even do not want to to send an email to notify the cancelation and at least say sorry.
Like I said, I bought other optic parts for the lens. Luckily I found it myself that the order was canceled, so I can contact seller to cancel my purchase -- but that eBay seller will have to relist it.
It is a bad business.

The dream is finally reality. Come on Canikon, the battle just begins!
I fear until the last minute that the delivery would be delayed, but I guess my order was finely handled.e
I just went to my local photo shop who were kind enough to call me to say the K1 arrived even though it was 17h30...
Well, the battery is charging and it's already evening. I guess tomorrow is a good shooting day for sure!
Handling is very nice. It's a chunky grip in hand, but secure and stable. Look small from afar, but when you hold it, it's a nice little brick.
I still need to set the options. Will report later! Here are some pics OF the K1 with a small sample of the lenses that await to be tested.

I have galleries full of squirrels, but I don't think any of them are at ISO 100...most are at or well above 800.

While I would prefer the lower ISO it is usually not possible in the heavy shade of the woods here and so I take what I can get. There is a difference between compromise of technical quality and compromise of aesthetic quality. I find many fantastic photos that are technically inferior but aesthetically excellent.
Obviously, there are different trains of thought, with many believing that technical perfection rules......but in fact, it seldom does.
Thanks for feeding the squirrels, no matter your motive, they appreciate it! :D

An absolutely perfect example of using the 'screen' tab to draw the exact wrong conclusion - that the K5 (or any same-gen aps-c camera, not to pick on the K5) 'beats' or matches the FF 5DS or D750 :)
Here's the 'print' tab, showing actual normalized output from each camera:
(Let's have a sanity-check show of hands - how many folks think that the K5 beats the D750 or 5DS FF (or Pentax K-1) cameras in noise performance? Clackers? Screen tab up there! He even has a micro 4/3 camera matching FF 5DS! What say you? ;)

Are you under the impression you 'debunked' it when you told Dr Bob Newman (sensorgen owner) he was full of crap on dpreview and got yourself banned there because the admins couldn't believe anyone posting such idiotic, baseless statements was doing anything but trolling? :)
And we see how you're using the screen tab to 'prove' your m/43 OMD matches the FF 5DS. That's very illuminating on a number of levels. ;) ;)
BTW, here's the 5DIII vs. your OMD-EM5, both at ISO 6400, without even size-normalization (ie the 5DII image is magnified more which will show more noise in comparison - displayed at the same size, the difference would be even greater.)
I think the 5DS should perform even better than the 5DIII.

You know, people around here after the grim Hoya years are celebrating very important product releases, that in recent times have included the 645Z, the wonderfully priced K3-II, K-1 and the availability of excellent FF lenses (that you have dismissed as simply being Tamrons).
They've got party hats on, bouncing to the music, kissing the person next to them ... and you're sitting at home grumbling.

I left the gigantic DA*60-250 at home and brought the little DA 55-300 on a recent trip to Cincinnati. I love this lens.

No your not alone, I'm reading your posts... but I can't offer anything constructive as I'm not as obviously as technical as you (I'm just a simple soul) and I use an iMac with a x-rite i1 Display Pro for my calibration needs. :)
But good to hear you got it sorted in the end, well done. :cool:

Very good suggestions from Ikarus - and lovely shots too!
I'm thinking about getting a Voigtlander 40mm F2 (which does macro) if I can get the readies together before they all disappear. Unfortunately Voigtlander and Zeiss (both manufactured by Cosina) have ceased production of K mount lenses.
I definitely need AF for most of what I do but I think MF lenses with really good optics - like Voigtlander and Zeiss - can produce really special results on those occasions where there is the time to do manual focusing. I do very little landscape but can imagine some of the really sharp MF lenses that are available being the bomb for it.

K-x is still king :-) It does everything I want. Day, night, bird, flying birds, astro, macro, you name it. Fast and very accurate autofocus, more than 98 % (fact is, I have never seen autofocus miss, when missed focus - handling error, or targets K-x isn't built to cope with). Only thing is slight missfocus in yellowish tungsten light - yeah, here I have seen autofocus miss notoriously, but K-x is not built to handle this kind of light in phase detect. Contrast focus works well also in tungsten and is a sufficient work around for me.
Small, versatile and reliable. Only superlatives :-) Got two K-x:es, will use them up to the last shuttercount. Hopefully next camera will be a Pentax FF of the same caliber as K-x, but in FF-territory.
Below: K-x timelapsing stars at night in -20 degrees Celsius. DIY infrared remote, chemical heatpads around lens to avoid frost on front lens.

yes, when you use the K5IIs is a chance you will encounter moire - and it is easily dealt with by either using the lens at its widest aperture or by stopping the lens down past the diffraction limit. Sometimes just by holding the camera at a different angle can eliminate it - problem solved. The point is that when the lens is stopped down to the diffraction limit you don't have a bayer AA adding even more blur to the image, so a K5IIs image at f/16 will have recorded finer levels acutance than an image taken with the regular K5II at f/16 that has a bayer AA filter. Sharpening an image doesn't recover lost detail - it can only make the detail that is there in the image easier to see. With a filterless camera you are given a choice to maximise detail, or you can carefully reduce it to avoid moire and that is why I bought my K5IIs* - just because a camera has a Bayer AA filter in it doesn't in any way suggest that it is immune to moire - I have examples of moire in images taken by the Pentax K-7, and that camera has a rather strong filter.
* Being an owner of a Leica M8, M9,Leica Monochrom, Nikon D800E, Pentax 645D and having had extensive experience in working with the Leica S2, Phase One and Leaf Medium Format Digital backs - all of which as standard do not have Bayer AA filters (unless requested) I have considerable experience with working with cameras that do not have Bayer AA filters and I am pleased that pentax has given us that freedom of choice that we have with the K5II/K5IIs.

You could be right but aperture and shutterspeed affect the image in very predictable ways. The screen doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to provide a visual indication of what's happening. I.e. double the shutter speed, halve the amount of light. Double the aperture, four times more light hits the sensor.
In fact this is already happening. When we set the camera to blow-out, or record a dark frame, the K-01 is calculating what a balanced exposure would look like and then showing us the screen and histogram which fit. I'm simply asking that they calculate what we've set, not what the camera thinks is ideal. As the K-01 does this with any lens fitted today, there's no reason I can see it wouldn't show a 'real' exposure for any lens present either.The math on the total amount of light is trivial.
