Pretty much all TV is a waste of time. Minus the learning channels, although half the programming on those channels are a waste of time and money as well.

I couldn't think of a more appropiate instance to use the term "It's the journey, not the destination."
I have so many unanswered questions that were never answered, and probably never will be. I still don't understand why they focused so much on the sci-fi elements to just end it with a theme of supernatural. I realize now the show's actual stories lied in the development of the characters and the relationships between them all. How they were all destined to be forever intertwined and linked to eachother, in life and in death. And I applaud them for this aspect of the series. However, I am extremely dissapointed that they left so many open holes in the story and the significance or importance these events had in the characters development.
The numbers, Walt's supposed 'special' powers, the time travel, etc. etc. Seems like they just pulled a bunch of randomn crap out of a hat to hook viewers in with the intention of never really explaining or tying it all together. I'm still not sure if that is brilliant storytelling or just laziness.
Who knows....the Island is definately still a HUGE mystery.

Now I'm a complete newb, I'll be the first to admit it. I just recently got into DSLRing with the K-x. Bought it back in january. I've been reading a lot about RAW and I completely understand technically what it is. My problem is that whenever I try to shoot in raw then go to start processing my photos, I can't for the life of me get good results. For PP software I have GIMP, Photomatrix, The pentax program that came with my camera, and Picasa. Are there any recomendations for the best workflow with the software I have? Or do I need to look into better programs?

As you've done with others, your assuming my thoughts and putting words into my mouth. Don't.

GingeM...since you obviously can't have an intelligent level headed discussion about the issue...I'm just going to ignore the trolling. The issue does deserve a civil discussion and debate from all sides. It is an important issue and all your doing is putting words into peoples mouths that you don't agree with and trying to get a rise out us.
All I now know is I'm 100% positive that I would not want someone like you controlling any aspect of me or my childrens lives. Good luck on your internet forum board crusade.

How many standards do you want GingeM? Millions? Should every set of parents just do whatever they want and colleges and governements should just accept it? I always wonder what people like you are actually wanting. You don't want a government controlled education...but the minute they stop controlling it and it goes to the garbage, which it would if it was uncontrolled and unregulated, then you would be screaming that the government should do more.
Who should be the 'dictator' of the school system? The church? Without some regulation and keeping the system in checks and balances, it would just be mass chaos.

Yea it is extremely handy. There are a few pdf reader apps that blow the standard iphone reader out of the water. I use GoodReader, I've tried out several and it seems to be the most intuitive for me.

Well I went 6.5 miles with that slingpack on my back...I'm definetely going to be looking into other options. My right shoulder, where the strap hangs from, was starting to get very uncomfortable about 3.5 miles in. I started to feel unbalanced and sore about that same time as well. I still like the bag for my around town adventures, it's just not designed for long distances.

This bag actually does do a good job of distributing the weight to my hips. The waist strap works very well. In fact, when I loaded it up here at home and tightened the waist strap a good majority of the weight was taken off the shoulder strap. I'm going to load it up this weekend and shoot for an 8 mile hike. I really love the bag, so I'm hoping that i can make it work. I'll post back my results after the long hike...if I survive.

Ok so im trying to get a SMC-M lens to work on my kx. I can't seem to adjust the aperture on the lens...as in manually. When i take the lens off it adjust just fine, but once mounted on the body turning the ring does nothing. Is there a setting on the camera i need to change? I have already changed the setting that allows me to choose focal length when turning on the camera.

Awww good ole aggieville! LOL Well I'm living in Kansas City, so not quite the middle of nowhere like the majority of Kansas. Although I did grow up in a farming community of 1500 people....now that WAS the middle of nowhere. Although I do wish I could see those sunrises and sunsets every day. :hmm:
