I just joined the club with an FA 77. Yayay!!!
Is it just me or does everyone's lenses arrive on gloomy overcast days?
Anyway I took this one on my drive home, I love this neon sign. Attachment 206417 |

I have seen limiteds in the wild twice, once a FA 43 being used by a guy with his kid at the aquarium and another time, an FA 77 being used by at the food court in my building (which is an office tower/high end mall/hotel) in the middle of a very popular tourist area. I also saw a pentax dual wielder having beignets at cafe du monde the first time I brought my first pentax out, I am not sure which lenses he had on because I was still a total noob but I think they might have been DA*s.
I did get stopped once by someone with a FF Nikon to get a snapshot of him and his family at the zoo and he complimented that he asked me because I was using a pentax with a prime lens instead of an entry level Canikon with a kit lens.

I have had random freezes which could only be fixed by pulling the battery as well. Also lesser malfunctions where the AF wouldn't engage which could only be fixed by turning the camera off for a minute and restarting it. It was worse with earlier firmware and hasn't happened in a while though. K-30 has been much less stable than my old K-x, one of the very few disappointments.

I love the dreamy haze and colors on this. Like there was frost on the lens.

And at this point, the word "review" being in their name doesn't make a whole lot of sense since they rarely do reviews.

I totally agree with this, the more I learn and hone my skills the more I appreciate the non-sharpness aspects of a lens' optical characteristics.

I shot this while I was driving into work. I was expecting to be stuck in a little stop and go traffic and be able to get a nice picture of this cool pink rabbit statue right in front of the Superdome but miraculously, there was no traffic but I still took the shot while driving 40 MPH.
I am not quite sure how the statue is only thing with motion blur because everything in the shot was stationary. I like the effect though, it makes it look like the rabbit is actually running. I just wish I had caught it a split second earlier so their was some space in front of its nose. Attachment 207787 |

I think we can tell by the lack of the AA filter on the K3 and the more aggressive price reductions on the K5 ii vs. K5 iis that the s probably blew the K5ii away in sales.

Pick up the phone and try to negotiate. The worst thing they can say is no and you don't buy the lens.

If Ricoh, Canon, and Nikon want to compete against mirrorless cameras with DSLRs, they need their DSLRs to operate in mirrorless mode and have 0 performance drawbacks vs. MILC competitors.

This is the most disappointing thread I have read in a long time. I thought you wanted someone to be a caretaker of your lenses and I was going to volunteer.

Do you have an external flash? It works nicely with all your lenses, opens a lot of new doors and possibilities, and especially helps you with the 16-45's barrel extension behavior. If you want to stick to a lens, I would say you have a few options in your budget either a fast normal zoom from sigma or tamron or a DA limited prime (15, 21, or 70) your choice.

It is amazes me how expensive photography used to be and that it was still such a popular activity. I certainly look at buying a digital body like buying an unlimited supply of film and processing.

I have spent the evening delving into LR, developing some of the raw photos I have shot in the past month and am not looking back. I feel stupid for avoiding LR for so long out of spite for Adobe. It also deals with jpegs well and makes the tweaks I need most often effortlessly and even does some that I only put the effort into for poster size prints.
Luckily I have never been interested in HDR but I guess the next step is to work on my techniques then find an old film camera. :D Attachment 205346 |
