LOL!

I feel your pain.

Reminds me of lens flare for the sake of lens flare.

Bokeh does simulate that feeling we have when we focus our vision and attention on something to the exclusion of what else we might be able to see.

It can be very effective that way, and fun to play with, but the term itself and the pursuit of Bokeh have become something of a "Pet Rock" in photography lately.

As my Parents used to say: "If you're having fun doing it and not hurting anyone else carry on".

My Son mowing the back yard.

I moved the camera right to left as he pushed across the grass, focusing on him and the mower.

He hates cutting the grass so he was moving pretty fast.

True, it was cheap but not anymore. I didn't want used.

New they are now over 200+ and used for $169 doing the ebay dance.

Anyways - WR version is nice but I haven't seen it new anywhere from a reputable vendor for less than $219.

The "regular" version I bought I cannot find new at this time for a better price:

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks Steinback, good point, you may have it.

I ran the firmware update on my K200D from 1.00 to 1.01. No problems, went smoothly.

I had problems with my K200D and a SandDisk Ultra II 4GB high speed SD memory.

The camera worked with it fine, but when I put it into various SD memory card readers, depending on the computer, it would lock up and not download pictures. It was bad enough that I had to switch to a 2 GB standard (slow?) SD card which worked fine.

It sounds like this firmware helps the camera write to the high speed cards so they behave, don't see this as Pentax's fault, I had the same problem with my Panasonic Lumix point and shoot using this memory card.

ShopNBC has new DA 50-200mm ED zoom lens for $166 plus $12.99 shipping.

~$179 delivered.

It came and was brand new in box, and a great lens.

Thought I would mention it here because I have not seen this lens under $200 at the major retailers and stumbled onto this good price at ShopNBC here:

Pentax smc P-DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED Zoom Lens ShopNBC.com

Cheers,
Eric

Does anyone know if a Vivitar Series 1 100-500mm lens will fit on a Pentax K-m?

I removed the black metal ring containing the flange that wouldn't allow the lens to fit.

It then fit right onto my K200 and I bet would fit fine on a Km.

There were 2 very small screws that I removed with a jewelers screwdriver and then the ring popped right off. I'm assuming the the matte black ring and flange are there to protect the f-stop diaghram lever (?).

Anyways, the lens fit perfect after that and worked well. With a conversion factor of 1.5 for film to digital the 70-210mm is in the digital range of 105-315mm so I'll need a monopod or tripod to hold it still when zooming.

The K200 has a lot of settings for manual lenses, including using the autofocus sensor to tell you when you have good focus - and it will take the picture when you are focused automatically (you are the focus motor though).

If you want more info or pictures let me know.

Thanks tvfd911,

The Vivitar 70-210 does indeed fit my K1000 35mm film classic model ;-)

A shame it won't fit my K200, it looks as though they intentionally made it so any lens with a long flange wouldn't fit (weight?). Dunno.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try removing the ring because the lens is super sharp and smooth on my old K1000.

Ack!

Yes, I bought a manual focus Vivitar 70-210 mm SMS Macro zoom lens labeled "P/K-A mount" and it won't fit on my K200D :(

Good thing it only cost me $18!!!

It is the black metal flange that runs next to the aperture prong, the flange on this Vivitar zoom is huge, it goes almost 1/3 of the way around the bayonet mount, and the far end of it hits the frame of the camera internally at the bottom of the mount; the flange would have to be sawed off.

I'll have to see if it fits my K1000, pretty sure it will, but beware of large flanges.
