What should not be forgotten is that compared to the 31ltd the sigma35 is considerably cheaper, has a modern focussing system ( no noisy screw) and the lenssoftware can be updated. Moreover it is 1.4 in stead of 1.8, quite a difference. That it is built like a tank or motor with glass inside does not bother me at all. Give me a tank anyday!

Nobody likes the idea of a li-ion battery for the k-x as an option? That basically is my question. I get along with aa's but a day for a battery pack is just too short. I would happily buy a li-ion pack if it was available.
My son has a modern Nikon (sorry about the dirty word) and his li-ion battery lasts for a month making thousands of pictures, not just 400. Sometimes I am jealous, only about the battery life though. (my pentax does more for less)
I also have a set of energizers 2450mah, they perform just as well as the eneloops.
my camera is set to ni-mh battery type

Maybe my mistake is that I change the batteries when the indicator goes orange or red. I never wait for the camera to shut down because the batteries are empty. I do use the latest firmware and Sanyo charger. I still would like to see a li-ion battery as for the k-r. And the aa possibilty on top, also as the k-r.
Will try the batteries until the camera stops and report how many shots I got.

I have problems with eneloops, when I take the camera in the field for an afternoon they are depleted, or at least my k-x shows so. I do not use video or live view, because then I am without power after 15-30 min.
Of course I carry spares, so I am never really out of action, but it is an annoying feature.
I wonder why Pentax could not arrange a li-ion rechargeble battery, as they are now offering in the k-r. If they can offer one for the k-r in combination with the aa type, it should be possible to do the reverse for the k-x. A lot of critisism for the k-x and thus pentax, would dissapear.

Hopefully Pentax reads this forum and takes this into account in a next software update.

]Sure did. And the batteries were not nearly empty.;)
(Hope my French friend from the Var kept his feet dry. That's more important than a frozen k-x, some 20 people drowned there because of excessive rain yesterday!)

Anyone has experience with the camera completely freezing up after video in live view? Mine has had a few occassions where I could not even switch off the camera. Even with the main switch turned to off the blue light is still on and the camera sounds like a coffee mill, with apparently the mirror in the up position. This happens after making a video. Not everytime though. When it happens I only get the camera back to normal by removing the batteries.
Warranty case?

Water is no problem, I have the weather proof lenses, and my K-x can do a soft focus, so no need for vaseline either.

There is no Italian website. But I have a cd that came with the camera in many languages, one of them being Italian. It has been sent to Camajan.

I just invested (yes, invested, they are too expensive for what they are) in 2 original pentax lens hoods, a 52 and a 58mm. Both of these have a little hatch in them. I can't figure out what that could be for. Anybody knows?

Having used Pentax film cameras back in the 70's, I am very happy to be back after a Nikon (film) disaster and various Canon compact digitals. Now the happy owner of a K-x. Am overwhelmed by the possibilities and relative ease of use. :)
