Don't you mean the 21mm DA? There isn't a 25mm in the Pentax line up- infact many users would go crazy if there was a 24mm released!

I would wait on the IQ results before passing judgement on price in both cases.
That limited zoom has got to be the perfect street walker lens if IQ is close to the primes.

+1 I have a Blackrapid for my K7 which will be similar in weight to the K3, I also have had a Kx so I definitly know the additional heft. I currently use the BlackRapid for the K7, a handstrap and carabina (to quickly attach to a belt loop when I need both hands) for my K01 and just a wriststrap for my little ole Q.
I HATE neck straps

Small, WR and well built. Nice to see what is great about Pentax make it into a new lens. This lens and the new 55-300 WR are quite the pair!

I'm thinking they may do a back-flip on that release date once the K3 gets some traction, what a great pair they would make!

I think DSLRS have to get ALOT smarter- what sets them apart to me is customizibillity and ultimate control.
Give me MORE processing power and the ability to take modes in/out via an app like interface with the computer.
It needs to be able to download to the cloud AND/OR wirelessly to my computer. I also want to control my camera via my phone INCLUDING FL on zoom lenses. This is the kind of things that will bring DSLRS back into the fold.
Make things modular so I can have a small camera or a large powerful one when I need it, thats have the point of removable lenses, picking the best one for the job.

Cool! I hope you corrected him about the WR just so a buying customer doesn't get a rude suprise!
Reminds me of when I was checking out a Q and K01 in Sydney and I was putting the DA40XS on my K7.
The salespeople were like, wow, what a small lens! Iit works on a regular camera?
And of course I said the K01 it was backward compatible with pretty much all of Pentax K mount lenses.
They also remarked how great both cameras felt, just goes to show the difference a good rep makes.

Ask if he has ever shot a Pentax? If he had he would probably be in the same position as you! *Remember...Pixie Dust!*

+1 for 35mm, I personally prefer 40mm as a walkaround but there is no subsitute for a wideish lens sometimes.

Well it remains to be seen if the HD coating will be used on cheaper lenses so its abit of a chicken/egg scenario as of right now.

I had both before I got my K01 and was keen to use my F 35-70 on it. It must be a one off but my copy is noisy as during AF and hunts around. Its weird as it is the opposite on my K7!
So the 18-55 goes on when I need something wider than my FA31 :D

Maybe they are looking to phase out the DA* nomenclature completely and use limited/red stripe to denote the high quality range.
Makes sense if you think about the DA 50 1.8 and DA 35 2.4

For those not happy with the lack of WR hopefully we will see it in HD versions of the FA lenses! It HAS to happen 31/43/77 AND Hopefully 24 if they are updating lenses for FF!!
Reason these lenses are already biggish well in terms of the 31 and possible 24mm and of course there is always the DA*55 and DFA100 WR

My opinion is go the 18-135, as it is WR and covers wide to tight portrait you will always have a use for it.
The 55-200 isn't the best rated lens and most people go for the 55-300 instead, that and the kits have no resale value.

Hopefully without the added weight of OS for Sony and Pentax cameras, unlikely now though.
