Here are the official prices in Japan for the different kits (10% can be removed of all prices by using the Shop Points Card). Prices are given for Japan only and cannot be extrapolated to any other country.

K5:

-K5 body only: 139.800 yens (= 1.679 USD = 1.225 euros)
????.com- ?????? K-5 [???]

-K5 + 18-55mm WR: 154.800 yens (= 1.859 USD = 1.357 euros)
????.com- ?????? K-5 [18-55WR??????]

-K5 + 18-135mm WR: 189.800 yens (= 2.280 USD = 1.664 euros)
????.com- ?????? K-5 [18-135??????]

K5 is expected to be released end of october.

Kr:

-Kr body only, any of the 120 colors: 74.800 yens (= 898 USD = 656 euros)
????.com- ?????? K-r [??? ????]

-Kr + 18-55mm (any body color): 79.800 yens (= 958 USD = 699 euros)
????.com- ?????? K-r [030 ?????? ????/???]

????.com- ?????? K-r [055 ????????? ????/???]

Kr and the different kits will be available between October 7 and October 10.

DA18-135mm WR:

Available middle of November for 59.800 yens (= 718 USD = 524 euros)
????.com- ?????? DA18-135/3.5-5.6ED AL[IF]DC WR

DA35mm f/2.4:

Available middle of November in any color (Japan only) for 24.800 yens (= 298 USD = 217 euros)
????.com-pentax 35mm-????

Just for information, the K7 (body only) is actually sold at 88.800 yens (= 1.067 USD = 778 euros)
????.com- ?????? K-7 [???]

As you can see, prices in Japan are going to be the most expensive in the world. Thanks to the economical situation leading to weak dollars and euros.

Then a few more informations. Last weekend was held a hands on preview in Akihabara (Tokyo). People were basically able to see what was already held in Photokina.
A few others exhibitions will be held during the next weeks. The next one will be in my city (Osaka) on October 16th from 12:00 to 17:00 in the 3rd floor of Umeda Sky Building. I will try to go there. During the following day/weeks they will move to Nagoya, Sapporo and Fukuoka. Informations here.

Hehe, welcome Falk on "Le Grand Forum" of "Focus Numerique / Les Numeriques". :D
Post whenever you want. ;)
As you said, we already found some interesting prices for K5. Some people also found good prices for the D7000 earlier.
And finally, it appears that Pentax has no choice than to follow Nikon's prices to remain competitive. Good for pentaxians!
One more time, thanks again for all your work Falk. :)

K-R release says "October". Anyone know the exact date?

Kr is expected to be release on October 7 in "regular colors" (black and white models I guess?) in Japan.
ペンタックス、デジタル一眼レフカメラ「K-r」の*売日を10月7日に決定 - デジカメWatch
But then I don't know for Europe or North America.

Furthermore, some rumors say that D7000 release will be very slow (very limited stock during the first weeks/months) because of the lack of Sony Exmor 16Mpxls sensors. So we can expect the same for K5. Maybe that can explain why Pentax is officially keeping the K7 on retail market.

I have no problem with it, don't worry. ;)
I am (was?) one of the people crying for a Pentax FF body. But I understood a couple of months ago that there will not be any FF before a while. So I will buy a 5DmII during the next month, with some very nice glasses. I dealed with it. :D
Still, I think for Pentax stopping to release the FA Limited is a mistake. Sure they don't sell a lot. And it does not bring many money back to HoyaTax directly. But it is just like the L serie in Canon, Nikkor for Nikon or Zeiss for Sony: they are prestigious, and even if people don't / can't buy them, they still dream to have one of them some day. And stick to Pentax. And these very triptyque set of lenses is the best ambassador and promotion tool for Pentax. They are praised by everybody, everywhere, from users from every brands. It was the only thing I was thinking I will miss in canon (even if I also like very much some of their primes... :p). By the way, if they become "Japanese only", I will still miss them because it will not change anything in my "world". :D
But I can understand how much many people can feel disappointed. A camera is not just a tool. And the lenses even less than a camera. They are your "creative art companion", they give you a lot of happiness (and sometime of frustration). So the strong reaction observed in the forum is quite logical. But cannot excuse the violent words that we have seen against honest forumers. Especially when the informations come from the inside of Pentax.

You found this situation "entertaining", were people insult other people, reputed and respected poster of PF. Where a senior moderator is banned. Where 2 of the most respected posters are personally attacked and probably feel bad about this story, while they just bring valuable informations to this Pentax community. You find interesting to see half of the pentaxian fighting with the other half.
Well, I guess my opinion about you was justified. :ugh:
Now, on my side I found it pathetic. Blende8 and Falk are precious posters, not such kind of "Simonsmyth". They bring interesting remarks, and even if everybody cannot always agree with them, their contribution matters to me.

Blende, Falk, there is many people reading this forum that support you. Even if they don't talk. You have bring a terrible news that some people cannot accept (and maybe they will even deny the forthcoming PR). So now let's close that discussion only leading to bad words, and let's wait a few more weeks.
If the story happen to be official, then I hope the people who were a bit aggressive during the last 24 hours will apologize, and we will all continue our pentaxian story together. ;)

Pentax at Photokina coverage by Falk Lumo!

In french, we have a famous sentence that say "don't shoot the messenger", even if the message if bad news. Here Falk is kind enough to give us an internal information from Pentax Germany. Is it going to be officialized sooner or later? Is it a new internal communication problem (remember K5 release 1 week ago)? I don't know and I don't care. Falk is, in my eyes the most precious poster of this forum. And get all my respect. Not only he never gave deliberate misinformation (I can give other names for that, and these people are still very active on the forum without getting any kind of attack like this one!), but he always offer a rational point of view of the real things. Peter Zack, you are a senior moderator, I often previously shared your point of view. You asked us to treat you as any poster here. So let me tell you that what you did here, if nobody hacked your account, is definitely not acceptable and I hope you will understand how much sooner than later. I will let Falk answer for himself, since he is your "target" (up to him to report an abuse). Just pray for this forum that you did not pissed him so much that he decide to quit and do his stuff from now exclusively on his own blog. I would follow him. Not PF.

I think you mistaken here. We are talking about Falk, the most respected poster of this forum. I can understand this news donesn't please you, but, I don't think it please Falk more than you. He is also a huge Pentax supporter, and more closer to them than anybody having "good relationship with a pentax rep.". Falk is a major contribution to this forum, one of the only guys giving good values to PF. He NEVER announced anything as for which he didn't get real and confirmed informations. He has a reputation and keep it good by acting well. Then, as suggested by someone else above, I would suggest to look at it again, think about who he is, and apologize. Because if he decide to leave this forum after this violent and frontal personal offence, it would be a big lost for PF.
By the way, I also would like to remind that if Pentax Germany get bad infos relayed on this specific forum, so what? Is it not the "Pentax News and Rumors" thread? :o

Nice picture from the Nikon D7000, but the "full size" is only 2.6Mpxls (2000X1325). So the 100% crop is not a real 100 crop.

I support you Big G on this thread. I also have a K20D, that I also use with NR off. More than 15.000 shots later, I can tell your picture has the very typical pattern of this camera. And sure 7D offers better high iso results.

Is K5 really only 11 AF points ?
Posted By youky63
Replies: 72
Anyway, 11 or 45 points, the main AF problem for Pentax is not in the body, but in the lenses. I don't know how many people here tried a high end Canon or Nikon body coupled to an ultrasonic lens. I played with a 5DmII and several lenses (24-105 f/4, 70-200 f/2.8 II, 135 f/2) and the focus speed of the lenses is awesome!!!! Another world compared to in-body screw motor or SDM. And completely silent...
So if you want to see a big improvement in K5 compared to K7 (excepted for track focussing), pray for a new ring motor lens line up.

The kit D7000 + 18-105mm has a price (in Belgium): 1.259 euros
Which means almost 600 euros (780 USD) less than K5 kit in Germany. It will be a hard time...

Its my way or the highway

It seems somebody is irritated... ;) (no offense, I think mostly the same thing than you :))

Last weekend I remember that almost everybody on this foru was praising for the new K5, telling how much they were ready to spend to get one as soon as possible (sometime even more than what they were ready to pay for a Pentax FF body!), and suddently, since yesterday, it looks like the K5 is not going to be a good camera anymore. :o
My opinion: K5 is going to be a very good Pentax. It will just offer what Pentaxians are used to have and to ask. And will offer a much better IQ than the K7. So nothing to complain finally.
Then, it would also be stupid to not accept that the other brands also offer wonderful bodies this year, much more competitive to the Pentax flagship than usually, and offering some advantages that we don't have in Pentaxland (especially a good ultrasonic motor).
So the question now for people is more: which lenses do I want/need? Can I get enougth with Pentax (in that case no real reasons to switch) or do I want more, something not present today and probably not until a lot of time.

Whatever is the answer, 2010 buyers will be very happy with there new equipments. :D

The previou models in USA were sold in the brands: Rokinon, Vivitar, Opteka, Falcon, etc... You have plenty of choice for the shop (I think to remember B&H is offering one of these brands, probably Falcon?)

But I think I have read that since this new 35mm, Samyng will sell them with it's own name (or maybe it is only in Europe, not sure).

Samyang 35mm f1.4 photos

You probably get a bad copy of the 85mm, because mine is almost perfect. Optically, my best lens (probably even better than my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8). Colors are fantastic, and no corner problem (anyway, I usually shot between f/1.4 and f/2, so corners... :p)

The 1st edition of the 14mm had flare issue, Samyang decided to postpone the release to correct it (how many company do that?!?) and now is almost better as all its pairs for flare and exceed their resolving power (including the new Nikkor 14-24mm).
The only remaining problem is the wavy distortion, but without consequences on landscape (only problematic on architecture) and can be corrected in different software using appropriate profiles.
For that price, it is going to be mine within the next days!

Then, the 35mm is released the sae year than all its pairs, so the IQ comparaison will be easy. :p

Where?!?

Iso performance is just a small part of FF sensor advantages. 100% pixel is another one, I am still wishing an APS-C can someday deliver such results. And not even talking about DR, which is mainly dependant of sensor size (dixit our master Mr Falk). ;)

Yes it is going to be cheap, but it is also going to be manual focus...
On my side, it is OK. My Samyang 85mm f/1.4 is my favourite lense. So much that I need to buy its equivalent in FF world now that I am switching (Canon 135mm f/2 L).
But the new Samyang reference is not anymore the 85mm, but the 14mm f/2.8 which has stratospherical resolving capacities, at least as good any 2000 dollars genuine wide angle (test in Photozone and Lenstip). I will order the Canon version within a few days. :D

D7000 Specs Released
Posted By youky63

Are you sure? :hmm:

Pentax K7:

Nikon D7000:

So it seems to be that the Nikon has a "better" Magnesium alloy body (not only front + top + bottom).

By the way, the WR level of the D7000 is not going to be far behind the one of K7, since it is at the same level as the D300(s).

And then, if your question is to know if the new K5 is a D300s killer, I would just inform you that this one as been already killed today by the D7000.

Now let's wait for the IQ comparaison between the new bodies. Nice spec is a good thing, nice IQ is another better one. ;)
