55mm Lens Club - Pentax, Vivitar, Cosina, Porst - bring 'em all!

One of the few shots I took with my Auto Panorama 55 f/1.4. An old m42 lens, I think it was also sold as Porst (I found a picture of a Porst that lookd very much like it). I bought it last year for a few euros, never really used it until I remembered I had it a couple of weeks ago.

Gimme nuts!, K-1, Pentax-F 70-210

Squirrels in Fuerteventura have learned to recognize nut-bearing tourists as one of their main food sources. I guess they still qualify as wildlife, kind of?

From the zoo at La Palmyre, France, shot with K-1 and Sigma 170-500. This lens is difficult to use, but it gives good enough results in the right conditions.

These elphants were moving quite fast. I managed to shoot this above the crowd before seeing the camera was not set up as I intended, but I could not get another similar shot. I'm quite happy with the result nonetheless.

Game Single In - June 2019

June is finished, and I'm not sur how I feel about it.

On the one hand, the new FA 35 is a really good lens. Quite sharp, resistant to flare, with well controlled aberrations. It is no macro lens, but quite usable for close-up shots, even if cropping helps sometimes. Lastly, the focal lenght suits me. I know many would like it to have an onboard focus motor and to be weather-sealed, but I feel it is better in a small and lightweight package.

So why am I not overly enthusiastic? The month has been quite busy (june always is, with music day taking a lot of the available time), and I could not shoot as much cityscape as I would have liked. It is a shame as the lens shines here, but I just couldn't find the time most days. I also missed three days completely, but this is to be expected in this challenge and it did not bother me overmuch. No single in july for me nonetheless, I need to breathe. :)

Thanks. This is a difficult lens to use; in the 400-500mm range it is only somewhat acceptable stopped down to f/9 or so. But when you get the right mojo or whatever it is, the results can be gorgeous.

I'm slowly getting accustomed to the Sigma 170-500. Here at 500mm on a K-1, taken in a zoo:

Howdy,

I just got myself a brand new FA-35; I guess I will play with it for some time so I might as well try the challenge again. :)

I've been sick for a few days, so I missed yesterday and still may miss more, but I'm trying.

Also, it looks like this month is going to be square month for me.

I just received an F 135 f/2.8 this very morning. This probably calls for a month-long test run. ;-)

Jonathan, your shots from Japan are gorgeous, please keep posting them!

I tend to use my K-1 more these days, but today I took my K-5 and DA Limiteds to an old colonial-themed park just east of Paris. I ended up using the DA 21 only.
