This shot... Mine has worse problem than this, on a high contrast scene (particularly black-white) the closer distance object has purple fringing, but behind has blue fringing. Anyone notice this?

As high as IQ comes out from this lens, the longer I use this lens,
the more I'd say that K50/1.2 is not used for its IQ. i.e. this lens is not for peepers.
It is more of a "Le Masteripece" lens, used for the sake of its specialty.

For me, there's something about shooting film + 50mm/f1.4 (or other normals) that still irreplacable by any other formats.
Kit zooms 18-55mm are even worse in this regard, in that it doesn't offer the same shooting experience to a new photographer as normal lenses once were.
Be finicky and say 50mm per 1.6 crop is 31mm, but let me say that it's still not the same.

I'd prefer mechanical shutter, that is with advance lever to charge the shutter.
No film roll but shutter can be made with spring. It would save batteries even more.
Give back thumb-lever shutter advance, move exp. compensation back to left top, move top LCD back beside color LCD.
No video, no AF, no continuous shooting. This is a cult camera for such small market at $3,000 :)

Hope all the replies don't make you even more confused :)
Buy K-30 first, if anything, it doesn't suit your need, you may easily sell it and buy a K-01.
Apparently, not the other way around.

By the time a non-crippled pentax comes out, it's apparently too late that too many good Ms and Ks are cutted already.:(

I'm afraid if those method would damage the mechanical in some ways. Asahi must have a good reason to not mention those MLU.
So is about SP500 allegedly having 1/1000 speed over the 500 mark. I guess.

Sadly, impractical to do on ES or ESII on AUTOMATIC mode.
That's because the meter circuit would measure with dark viewfinder thus resulting wrong/long exposures.
Sadly, in particular, because the ES and ESII can actually meter accurately up to MINUTES long.

Isn't K2 shutter button electromechanical?
That is, unlike, say a Super-Program or P3, whose shutter button is actually an electronic switch.
K2 shutter button is electromechanical, i.e. it is physically engaged to spring, lever, cam etc within the body,
just like ME, ME Super, ES, ESII.
Those can fire with dial position in AUTO, but the actual speed is unwarranted.
The electronics is controlling the time-delay between first and second curtain, not actually move the curtains.
I think the manual said so, just to prevent the usage of unwarranted speed in automatic position.
Again, thanks :)

Hello...
I have a question about K2. If you fire K2 shutter in auto-mode without battery, how should the shutter behave?
I believe it should be something very fast, likely faster than 1/1000th.
I owned an ME, and while it's mechanical speed is only X, if it is fired in auto without battery, the result was a very fast shutter speed.
A CRT shutter test proved this, as I saw very narrow slit. When fired in X, the slit was much wider than when fired in auto.
For you K2 owner out there, can you please confirm this?
Thanks :)

Yes really..
K series viewfinder has concentric circles that make it easier to focus.
Spotmatics don't have it apparently, but earlier SV, oddly had it.

Hello
In the M bodies camera manuals, GPD cells are promoted for being faster/more sensitive (better)...
But the next A bodies used SPD cells again.
The only other camera I know used GPD cell is Nikon FM, not on later FM2.
Why were GPD cells only used in M bodies, if it has better characteristic.
Expensive? Or may be it was only a trial?
Any technical explanations/from electrical viewpoint?
I'm curious.
Thanks

Yes you can.
the camera's cocking lever and shutter release are functional as usual.

Wow!! What a demo!!
Thanks.. :D
I'm not sure yet though, that the video is playback at actual speed.
If it is, then mine indeed has a problem. My winder works same as the demo BUT with much slower speed, likely less than half speed. There's considerably delay between trigger push and shoot.
Oh, well, if I use C and X100 speed, it bursts at likely less than 1fps. So, yes, mine has a problem. :D

I rechecked mine and it goes this way:
1. Winder attached with switch OFF and set to 125x. Camera is uncocked and set at X100 speed.
2. Both camera and winder have fresh, tested batteries.
3. Half-pressing on winder's trigger button turns on the meter, but does nothing. No advance, no cocking.
4. If I full-press, then, the action is Wind - Shoot - Cock. I cannot separate those three-on-one actions.
5. I have this done repeatedly without film, back open.
6. Then load a roll of film and it does the same. I load the film after winder attached.
I have read the manual, apparently there's nothing showing the sequence (that Wind - Shoot - Cock). It just says about S and C mode usage, attachment procedure.
Well that's it. :)
Unfortunately, for me, the ME is too small to use without the winder. :(

Hello,
Just got a black ME with Winder ME II recently. Everything works except one thing:
Is Winder ME II supposed to advance the film before release the shutter?
So when I push the trigger on Winder ME II, the sound was "Whirrr... Click!" instead of "Click! Whirrr..." as expected from any autowind SLRs.
I have no idea, but for me, this is awkward as shutter release is not instant with trigger button.
If this is normal, what about Winder ME (those with 6 AAs instead of 4) ?
Thank you.

The Fujica M42 to X adapter does Tv mode with that exact method with all screw lenses. You set smallest aperture on the lens, and the stop down pin press up PROPORTIONATELY until correct aperture is achieved.
WOW !! Stepless Tv with M42 lenses !!

What's next?
D-FA 50mm f/1.2?
Maybe a K1000D?
Spotmatic D?
