The D-LI109 dummy battery arrived early and I managed to get this to work - thanks to kpyfer!

To prevent the dummy battery from rattling inside the K-01, I created a 3d print to sort of convert the D-LI109 dummy battery into a D-LI90 so that it can be inserted into the camera, much like a normal battery.

I am pleased that the setup works well so far.

Just saw this thread - wow that moon is nice.
Anyone tried using the Q7 or Q-S1 with the DA300 and also with the DA1.4 teleconverter - this would give 4.6 x 300 x 1.4 = 2000mm almost?

Hi guys, I would like to do more time lapse on my K-01, esp sunrise and sunset ones.
I tried aperture priority mode and set the time interval between frames to be 3 sec. However when the sky is getting dark, the shutter speed quickly become longer and sometimes before the shutter is closed, I had already missed the frame.
I guess I could constantly try to adjust the exposure to avoid this - but i would like to leave the camera there without me fiddling with it, which could cause the framing to change so the overall time lapse is not great.
What are the techniques you guys used to shoot a successful sunset time lapse for instance? Please share so that i can improve my skills.
Any other tips most welcome.

Hi strixaluco, I ended up buying this one yesterday from aliexpress.

It is essentially the same D-LI109 dummy battery but has a buck converter that takes its power from a USB power source such as a powerbank for phones. I guess this will give me much longer run time compared to my NP-550 batteries and I dont have to muck around with modding the actual battery connections.
Hopefully that will work!

Hi mate, this is super awesome and I would like to try this. I have a pair of Neewer NP-550 battery, not exactly the same model as yours, the battery says 7.2V 2600mAh, 18.7Wh..is this workable?
Also that cable plug connection from the USB charger - is that something that comes with the charger or did you mod into that? The USB charger i have for my Neewer NP-550 does not have such a cable connection.

The 55-300 PLM arrived today (fantastic 1 day shipping!) and i have tested the lens indoor - very happy to confirm that the lens can be stopped down via the aperture. I tried a scene f5.6 ISO3200 1/100s and f8 ISO3200 1/100s, the f8 one has a lower exposure than the f5.6, so that would imply that the lens can be stopped down appropriately.
Havent used the lens extensively of course apart from me doing test shots in the house - but no random shutter actuations yet. fingers crossed.
Very pleased that the K30 can use PLM lenses this way.

Thanks for that. It is great to know that the k-30 can further extend its life this way. You have given me more confidence now. I have just placed an order for the 55-300 PLM and am eager to test it out. It is too bad i cannot use this lens with my k7 and k-01 without compromising the aperture.

Thanks UncleVanya. If the aperture cannot be controlled, that means the lens is always shooting at wide open? f5.6 or so? On very bright days this could be an issue no?
I have also just flashed the hacked K-50 firmware on the K-30 and the camera is working - although I have no way knowing if it actually becomes a K-50 (or not) and I dont have the 55-300 PLM to test out.
I had wanted to get the 55-300 to pair with the k-30 exclusively so the lens compatibility is important.

Hi everyone,
Is the DA 55-300 plm compatible with the K-30 and/or the K-7? Also what about the K-01?
I have the K-3, K-7 and K-30 and i think it will work with the K-3, but on the K-30 it seems that it won't work because of the aperture issue? Is this still true? What about the K-7?

Great video! I cant tell if he is shooting in raw or not? If in raw, I am just wondering why change the colour temp, saturation etc on camera? Why not do this in Post?

I watched both part 1 and 2 of the video. Am I correct to say that there is no swivel screen to this new APS-C? I couldn't really tell from the video however.

Yes. I currently have an old Wasabi D-LI90 which is not holding too much charge and i will remove the internal battery to convert it to a dummy. I am not sure if this will work but I think I should give it a try.

Yes you are indeed correct. The K-5 (as also my K-7 and K-3) comes with a DC input socket. The K-01 however does not :-(.
I am trying to do this for my K-01.

I could find the AC adapter for the D-LI109 battery but not the D-LI90. Actually I can find one but it is well over USD100.
Any other options or DIY methods?
Wanted to get one for my K-01.
