I hear the $700 is pretty legit. I was saving for a DA300, but I think I'll jump on this if the reviews are good.

A better K5! I'll wait and see how this stacks up against the K3, but I know this; I will own one of them.

Perhaps it will have different bundling option? Basic package and a WR package? Of course if you already own a WR lens or two just buy the body. I think Pentax focuses more on repeat business rather than drawing in new clientele. That's where the money is IMO.

I love how it looks like it was designed by Glock as opposed to that lego inspired K01.

Well I guess many of us will switch to the d800. Now I have to learn a whole new lens system... Are there nikkors as sweet as the 31 and the 77? FML..

K5 or K20D focusing screen to K-r

So are the screens for the K5 and the K20 the same? I've been wondering about that. The only reason I keep the K20 to use the lensbaby with a split prism screen, otherwise I miss to many shots.

Which lens to get?

From the reviews on B&H, I got the impression the 16-50 was hit or miss as far as SDM goes. That makes me lean towards the Sigma.

It's really not entirely fair to the K5 if you never use a DA* to unleash it's full potential. 50-135 looks to be the best, it's on my wish list. I'm very skeptical that Pentax will ever FF, the new lenses seem to suggest a commitment to APS-C format. I speculate that as sensor technology improves, the idea of FF will be irrelevant and perhaps obsolete, unless this distinction separates pro gear from consumer gear. They won't want big heavy cameras they can't stuff in a backpack. I'd love to see that line less blurry than it's getting. If it looked very apparent that they will release a FF, I'd buy sigma glass, so I can make the switch.

I'm debating the Pentax 16-50 or the Sigma 17-50. I've seen images from both lenses on flickr and see no outstanding IQ differences. But what about focus speed? Other than that it comes down to price VS DA* weather sealing. Any thoughts? BTW I'm shooting a K5 and K20D.

Good advice, all. I was leaning toward the 21mm so that settles that. I'll also check out that zoom. I usually never shoot with one, but then again, I'm not shooting for me in this instance.

I'm going to be helping out a friend with his wedding shoots this summer, and I want a wider angle lens to round out my gear. I'm shooting K5 and K20d bodies, the 77mm, 50mm 1.4, the 35mm 2.4 AL and a Lensbaby 3G. I'm torn between the 15mm and the 21mm. I'm also considering the 43mm, but it seems too close to the 50mm to benefit much. which should I choose?

Lensbaby focus indication

I have a katzeye on my K20d. It helps. I'm not sure I want to do that on my K5. I'll probably just keep the other camera just for the lensbaby.

On the K20d, I had no problems with my lensbaby. Now that I have the K5, my lensbaby isn't activating the focus indicator. Is there a fix for this?

It took me forever to figure out how to get past that ISO160 thing. I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggled with that.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my photo program with a pentax, which my professor always thinks is a sony alpha. It kinda makes me laugh, also I kinda want a sony 850. But, I'm sure I'll stick with my k20d till the k5 (or whatever it is) is available on ebay. Either way, I'm standing out.

How to clean a focus screen

I ended up just winging it and using a lens cloth with liquid cleaner. No gloves or tweezers. I got it out with a pen cap. It worked, with all the dust removed sans a brown speck right on the knurled circlie thing. it was a dumb thing to do and I'm lucky I didn't ruin it or the mirror– but at two AM and your sick of worrying about it, you do stupid things and get lucky.

I bought a used Katzeye and it's ridiculously awesome. I love it. It had a few dust spots on it and I tried to clean it twice, only to make it worse each time. I used a brush and a can of dust remover. can i use lens cleaner and a cloth? it seems daunting. please advise:confused:.

Focus screen help

I'm really not sure about the split prism, it's still a little technical for me, being that I'm just returning to photography after a long hiatus, my last camera was a PZ20. So I'm still in research mode on this subject. I've looked at the Katzeyes, seems like alot of money, but I know this isn't a cheap hobby. I was really wanting a zeiss lens, and chose voightlander instead due to their price and apparent similarity, so I guess I could justify the added expense, considering I'm buying two lenses for less than the price of one, roughly.
And thanks for the info, it looks helpful.

I'm investing in some Voigtlander manual lenses and want to upgrade my K20d OEM focus screen. Can anyone point me in the right direction? As of now, i'm kinda lost.
