In India it's a fairly easy sight to capture, most of them are housed in enclosures/protected sanctuaries for their own safety. One wishes they could roam free but poaching is a problem that the government is still struggling to tackle.

Captured this Asiatic Lion posing for the tourists (me) at Bannerghatta National park in Karnataka, India. I used a Pentax K-x with a Pentax SMC-DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED kit lens. The camera is a few years old now and no longer sold officially, you can pick up a used one for about $350 Used Pentax K-X 12.4 Megapixels Digital Slr Camera Body Black |

Hi,
As far as I know any information regarding a Pentax service center or official presence in India is outdated, even if it is listed on their website. I verified this by emailing Pentax about 1-2 years back regarding the same.
Regards,
Aditya

I recently bought a SMC Pentax 55mm F2 off eBay and there appears to be a bit of dust on the inside. Anyone know where I can get the lens disassembled and cleaned in Bangalore? Update: To answer my own question, I found a contact in one of the previous posts that was highly recommended :). Have given my prime and should receive it in two to three days.
Here's the gentleman's details:

My Pentax K-x's e-dial appears to be broken, it intermittently zooms in regardless of which way I am turning it. Any suggestions for a repair shop in Mumbai who can fix it?

Well my box had a cd (proper pentax labeled cd) which said "Operating Manuals" on it. The cd autoruns a window that then shows pdf's of the camera manual as well as information on available lenses for the camera. I guess this is a relatively new development.

Hello :) I finally got my Pentax K-x with the 18-55 and 50-200 kit lenses this sunday. Cost me 26k thanks to a friend who was coming down from the states. I shot this photo in auto, need to read the manual so I can take better shots (I disliked the fact they have the manual as a pdf, would really have liked a paper version) |

Hi,
I'm sorry for being inactive after posting last month, still been contemplating which camera to buy. Most of my friends tell me buy canon or nikon because they are officially here and service support is good.
Yet for some reason i'm strangely attracted to Pentax and want to get one
So I was checking out amazon and I saw:
Pentax K-x 12.4 MP Digital SLR with 2.7-inch LCD and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL and 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED Lenses (Black) is about $700
while
Pentax K-7 14.6 MP Digital SLR with Shake Reduction and 720p HD Video with DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Weather Resistant Lens sells for about $1050.
I'm leaning towards the K7 for the better construction quality, which I figure will allow me to use it longer without it getting spoilt. One question how often have you guys had to repair/service your Pentax cameras?

I have written to Pentax USA again in the hope that they can help us out. Find the email pasted below: Quote:
Dear Sir,
This is in reference to the contact details you gave me for Pentax's official partners in India. Unfortunately none of their contact numbers seem to be working/the information provided is outdated. Is there anyone from Pentax who is in charge of the South-East Asia/India Region that I can communicate with.
There is a sizable number of people who would like to see Pentax introduce DSLR's in the country (refer to https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/gatherings-photo-trips-groups/24597-pentax-users-india.html ). Unfortunately nobody here seems to actually know who has been appointed by Pentax to sell the same, as a result of which products only seem to be available in the grey market/bought from the US.
I know Pentax Imaging Co. supports the US only but I would truly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction and help me locate the relevant person to contact.
Yours Sincerely,
Aditya |

I've been trying to call them up but the numbers don't seem to exist anymore, even tried the ones listed on their website/business directories. Manually visiting the place will be required :(. Will do that only I guess

I will be calling Allied Photographers today to find out about the same. So far all information I got on Pentax's Presence in India has been from friends and photographers I have met. They all say Pentax makes great cameras but it would be wiser to buy a Canon or Nikon because it is easier to get lenses/servicing

Hi,
I'm Aditya from Mumbai and I currently own a Panasonic DMC-FZ50. I'm looking to enter the world of DSLR's and right now I'm torn between a Pentax K7 and Canon 550D.
As far as I know pentax isn't officially selling their DSLR's in India right?
As a beginner I'm worried about things like warranty and who will repair the camera even if I manage to get it from the u.s or grey market here.
I did email Pentax to find out the list of official resellers here (they seem to only sell the compact digital cameras) have pasted the list they sent below:
