Notably there was no editing of material by the producers, every image that was submitted and met the technical guidelines was included, a great effort from the contributors.

The book was produced by two hard-working members of the Pentaxians group on FaceBook gratis, all the info is here for those that might be interested in contributing next to year's edition: The PENTAXIANS Yearbook 2017 |

I guess the difference is that photography is subjective (other than specific technical instances) , there's no official measure of success other than the works appeal/popularity and that's rarely defined precisely by the gear on which the image was captured.

They did bring out a FF but that's what drove me elsewhere as it wasn't a fit for my needs and this is after being loyal to K-mount for about 33 years. Eventually the donkey works out that the carrot is always that little bit out of reach and gives up.
That said I still have a major investment in Pentax gear that I will continue to work with but my extensive K-mount kit will be sold off.

I know personally it lost quite a few too, me for one. I also held out for an upgrade to the K3 but I have to work and Pentax are just too slow to market.

I've got one here as a spare part, the cover does nothing to enhance the seal.

Yep, my cameras get a hammering, haven't checked my K5iis lately but it's probably around 150k now, I have more trust in that than the K3 to be honest, my back-up K3 has only about 6500 shots on it.

Lower noise/better DR, slightly deeper buffer, improved AF and I'm ready to go. One of my K3 bodies has 215k shots on the shutter now so I'm keen for the replacement.

Very interesting and perplexing, the mount height can't change, it's the most critical dimension, all they can do is to add clearance to the angled area above the mount. Potentially Sigma have had various mounts as variations along production of certain lenses. I know that they have pretty good records as I enquired about re-flashing one of my Sigma lenses and it fell outside the serial range where that was possible for that model
Cheers,

That minute gap will also create focus consistency errors across the frame, particularly in the case of wide angle lenses. That's my concern, not so much the sealing issue.

LOL, plainly you're not an engineer ;) ---------- Post added 05-13-16 at 03:00 PM ----------
I'm quite serious, no doubt after the first lot of modified lenses come back from Sigma there will be a chorus of cries about how repaired lenses don't focus properly any longer plus I simply can't afford to have half my lenses away being modified as a working photographer.
The body mod would be quite easy and safe for anyone who knows what they are doing (much less chance of damage than putting WR bodies under running water for instance), I certainly wouldn't recommend doing it that way but it suits me.
I promise to post pictures.

Nice, the 31LTD is a great bit of glass, I've had mince since Feb 02, mainly used on my LX bodies but it did well on APSc too.
Bob knows his Pentax kit.

It's a crock anyway, they have screwed up in the past. The first Pentax body to implement that hideous prism overhang was the K10D from recollection.
That lovely bit of jutting plastic wouldn't allow the A*200/4 macro to rotate to portrait mode whilst the pair was mounted on the supplied tripod mount as the set screws on the mount collar collided with the prism overhang, they didn't offer to fix that. It also made using the aperture ring less than comfortable.

It only needs to be a similar size to the mystery cutout above where the Sigma lenses rub, no great drama.

I can see myself loading it into a press with a nice cutt-off disc and producing a neat little scalloped cutout much like the mystery one above. A good vac and a little touch-up paint and she'd be as good as new, just better.

Lenses I generally keep, cameras I don't, so it's the camera that gets modified for me.

Not really, how many Sony 7 series users have or had DSLRs previously, people will change if they perceive an advantage.
The D500 is a hell of a camera, probably the premium APSc DSLR currently.

It may well be but in this market at least I think it's misguided. As soon as all the older well heeled buyers have dropped their cash who else will buy into the brand with lenses at those prices?

LOL, for sure, I'm in the same boat, I have a lot of capital locked up in K mount lenses and even the thought of the process of swapping leaves me a little sick in the stomach. I'm shooting professionally and it's a very difficult thing to be doing running Pentax K-mount, I love the Pentax philosophy and ergonomics but I won't support their obvious blunders. Nikon has some great product still and significant support in the amateur and professional community.

Indeed, if I finally end up switching brands after 30+ years of continuous Pentax use it will be to Nikon and I will buy mostly Sigma glass. The body is simply a mirror-box and sensor for my lenses.

I don't see their approach wooing anyone but amateurs with some past connection to Pentax however.
