I bought my wife the 6.5x model, and they're good not just for bugs, flowewrs,,etc., outdoors, but they're also great for museums, where sometimes you want to see
the detail in something closer but are otherwise restricted from physically getting closer.. And the're fine at concerts, too, as "opera glasses".

Very interesting scans from Soligor, and I guess we now know that the lens in quesion is not a "Bokina" sibling. However,we also would think that it likely is an excellent macro lens to use. :)
I was a bit curious about the 1:1 macro adapter for the VS1 90/2.5 Macro in the last image posted -- What caught my eye was the blue lettering used on it -- I have never seen one of these with anything other than white lettering (e.g, on one of mine) --

I'm even a bit curious about the lens "title", as named on the front cover of my CZJ 70-210/2.8-4 lens --
I wonder about the significance (if any) of the "Series II" -- was there perhaps an earlier Cosina version, possibly similar to the VS1 70-210 V4 ?
:hmm:

Ah, yes, and ~that~ is the same lens model that I posted images about above. Thanks for "tying the two threads together". :)
As for Cosina/Zeiss lenses, some of the newer Zeiss optics are made by Cosina -- so such a collaboration wasn't just limited to just the earlier CZJ days...Cosina can ~indeed~ produce some very fine lenses when the specs call for it.

Yes, the same with the AF540FGZ.
And the AF200T and the AF280T do a (perhaps surprisingly) very good job at good ol' "auto (thyrister) flash" on older bodies and even on the newer DSLR's.
[The AF080C ring flash that I mentioned, though, lacks the external thyristor sensor (which might be difficult to implement on a macro flash anyway), so it can't do "auto flash", but it does work nicely for TTL on film bodies and those first three Pentax DSLR's, and it also works well fror manual flash.]
Pentax, sometimes purposefully and sometimes accidentally (as in this original topic of this thread, I would say), usually seems to offer a lot of forward and backward compatibility, and it's always nice to have options. :)

Actually, to be most correct, the *ist D, the *ist DS, and the *ist DS2 can all use TTL, so that the DS2 is the last model to do so. [Admittedly, of course, a DS2 is basically a DS with a larger LED screen -- are there any other differences? -- so I am guilty of quibbling, I guess.]
I have two DS2 bodies that do TTL flash with AF280T and AF080C flash units just fine. :)

Nice cat pics, luftfluss. :)
When I bought my first K-01, I quickly decided I wanted another, converted to IR. Then, I decided since the K-01 is now a "legacy" body, to obtain two more low-mileage K-01's (one of which I also had converted to IR), so that I had two K-01 backup bodies (one "normal" and one IR). However, my two "user" K-01's seem so reliable that I'm realizing that I probably didn't really need backups, in which case, if I ever did have one "bite the dust", I' d just pick up a replacement. (?)
It sure would be nice if Pentax/Ricoh updated the firmware for KAF4 lenses, though...

I just took a look at the ClearViewer site, and am interested. Just curious, zippy -- do you have the tripod-socket-mount version or the hotshoe-mount version?

Same here (almost) -- I was able to obtain a pristine *ist DS2 (basically the same as a DS but with a larger LED display for my older-than-dirt eyes), that I use with an AF080C ring flash (or sometimes with an AF280T flash) along with an A 50/2.8 Macro, as my "dedicated eBay/Marketplace pics rig". Good ol' TTL works great with an *ist D, an *ist DS, or an *ist DS2.

The AF080C is a ~great~ li'l macro ring flash.
It works with good ol' reliable TTL flash mode with the *ist D, DS, and DS2 (and, of course, with the LX, the Super A, etc.). Unfortunately it doesn't do P-TTL, but is easy enuf to use as a manual flash on all of the newer DSLR bodies - and the optional manual 1/4-power setting (Guide Number 4) i(which a lot of flashes lack) s a big help for not overwhelming macro subjects.
I use mine often with a DS2 and a A 50/2.8 Macro as my "dedicated 'eBay pic' cam" -

The Tokina AT-X 90/2.5 "Bokina" (especially in PK/A-mount trim, just for convenience). :)
