Thanks for the comments everyone. I want to go back as Plockton is such a photogenic place, as is the area around it.

I need a little help with my FGZ540II and 360II
I have the mk1 one version of the 540 as well as the mk2 of both 360 and 540 flashes.
On the mk1 there is a switch to change the flash type to manual to HSS etc. But the mk2's don't
I want to put the mk2's into full manual (like the mk1) but I cannot find it. Only the back LCD shows the same icon for "green mode", which is not what I want.
Can anyone help?

I thought I would post this here in case anyone else has had the problem.
I say "Problem", more like a minor niggle with my K-1
If I have not used the camera for a few days, and yes it does happen....LOL The first image upon turning it on, is black. but all subsequent ones are fine.
During a normal day after this initial problem, again the camera works perfectly.
It really is just a case of not using the camera for a few days or more.
Any one else had this problem, and is it something to really worry about?
Shutter count is only in the 50K mark, so well within the realms of the design.

Fingers crossed it will have a new motor over the old and unreliable SDM one. Looking forward to it, and my rather nice Tamron 17-50mm can go to the missus to put on her K-3II

Still no idea on the max aperture? My HD-DA21mm works great on the K-1 but only in the square format option on the camera. Hopefully faster than F3.2 of the DA Limited, even better somewhere between F2 and F2.8.

I like the idea of bringing out current out of production versions or the classic primes with the new HD coatings. FA28 anyone? I have the F28 which is overall a very capable lens indeed. Same goes for the wonderful FA135 F2.8. Even the current FA50 F1.4 would benefit from the new coatings, but that won't happen now that the huge, stunning but very expensive DFA* version is out. Maybe the FA50 F1.7 would be a worthy contender.
Anyway I digress. I am hoping someone can do a full on test, including a side by side comparison of both the new FA and the DA on the K-1 sooner rather than later.

I am very tempted by the HD-FA 35, as I don't have the original SMC-FA version.
However, I DO have the SMC-DA F2.4 version which I use a lot on the K-1 and rather like.
The crux of the matter, reading the comments, if the DA35 really is F2-2.1 in reality and not F2.4, would there be any point having the new lens. Yes I have various film bodies too, about 50% can control the aperture, so not a big issue.
So, I would welcome an early comparison test of the HD-FA and SMC-DA versions sooner rather than later, to see if it worth getting it.

I saw the thread about the Don McCullin exhibition, and thought I would mention to those interested, that Martin Parr also has an Exhibition on in Manchester. Well worth going to. I have been several times and admired the photographs.
Mind you, it helps that I only work around the corner.

To be honest, I have not found much in the differences in the Dynamic Range between the K-70, K-3 and K-3II to be honest. I don't have the KP by the way.
There are very subtle differences, but not to an extent to discount one camera over another. They all share the same Sony 24MP sensor, and all I can think of is the algorithms to suit each camera make the subtle changes in the ability to recreate the DR at various ISO's.
Having said that, I did notice a larger difference in the DR between my old K-5 and K-5IIs. The K-5 was FAR superior, which is strange......
Still K-70, K-3 and K-3II that I have there really is not much in it.

Some minor questions relating to lenses.
1. The HD-DA 1.4x converter was announced as Full Frame capable, but now it is not? Why?
2. 85mm F1.4 like the mighty FA* version. It is on the horizon?
3. 135mm F2. A classic focal length, and would be the perfect portrait lens. Any chance?
3. Fisheye of around 15mm. Is this on the roadmap?
4. Tilt/shift. Pentax have never had this type, is it possible?
5. Finally, the FA*250-600mm F5.6 and the 600mm F4. Are they being looked into long term as D-FA* versions with weather sealing and silent motors (DC as opposed to SDM)

Welcome to the Brick Club. :-)
I love my K-01, it has a quirky design, but it is wonderfully original.
It loves my small primes and zooms even the 35-105 I have just bought.
The IQ is fantastic! enough said.
I have improved the handling of the camera by putting the neck strap on my (ahem) Nikon D50 instead, and replacing it with a Joby hand strap. Well worth it!
Non-photographers love the camera and think it is "really professional"
When you get used to it, it handles brilliantly, it really does.

For me, and I think a number of these will be included
Enhanced AF system, At least 27 points of the K-3, hopefully more.
Full weather sealing (more of a given)
Flip tilt LCD ala KS-2
Best low light performance for the sensor chosen, either the 24MP or 36MP one.
No AA filter.
A switch or menu control to turn off the crop factor discussed for DA lenses, meaning that the DA lenses that cover the FF sensor (DA35, DA50, DA40, various DA*) can be used accordingly
Superior Flash sync, 1/180 does not cut it anymore, we need 1/250
Tethering for studio work
Wireless control from a smartphone
Good FPS for sports and nature
Magnesium body
Price less than the Nikon D750
Ability to select focus point for confirmation when using manual lenses.
Big Buffer for write speeds, even the fastest Sandisk cards take time to write on my K-5
Maybe even have dual SDXC/CF card slots.
14 bit RAW files minimum.
Apart from these, nothing mare really.

I have the Tamron 17-50m and it is useful and fast, also sharp. But there is something about it. I just don't love it as a lens. I can't put my finger on it as to why. Maybe it's colour rendition does not have that Pentax look, even with processing in CameraRAW. Maybe it is the bokeh. I just don't know. The images just look a bit flat in comparison to a Pentax Lens. Hmmm.
I have not got the 24-90, only the 24-80 in that range (which lacks good detail) but then again, the colours and that Pentax POP are there.
Have you thought about getting the tiny SMC-F 35-70mm? That is a superb lens and gives me some wonderful shots. Downside is the wide angle.
You could get a mighty 21mm Limited as well, if you can afford it to give great wide angle shots.
:-D

I was thinking the same thing, for me it will depend on how much less the K-S2 will cost in the stores. (I am trying very much to save up for the Pentax FF next year)
In the meantime, I think there are pro's and cons for basically three bodies.
K-S2
Pro's - Small body, articulated screen, built-in Wireless control
Con's - I don't know how the 20MP sensor performs yet, "only" the 11 point AF system, Plastic body, no grip option, no top plate LCD. slowest FPS
K-5IIs
Pro's - Build, Low light is the best (unless the 20MP sensor beats it), that 16MP sensor is a legend!
Con's - older 11 point AF system, cannot compensate the AA filter
K-3
Pro's - Resolution, similar size to K-5, build, 27 point AF, fastest FPS
Con's - Low light not as good as the K-5 (IMHO), battery life not as good, but at least it is the same battery as the K-5 which is a good thing, Different grip to K-5
All of course have no AA filter and are weather sealed.
So it comes down to this.
Light weight and flexibility - K-S2
Low Light performance - K-5IIs
Resolution and best AF for moving objects - K-3
Of course, If you can afford all three, get all three :-D (Mind you the combined cost would will be less than the launch price of the Pentax FF - Ouch!)

Ditto, I have not gone to the store, or my credit card would go to meltdown.
But their service is impeccable.
For example a couple of years back was my 20 year service award at work, and you could purchase anything up to a grand. But due to a lot of hoops you have to go through regarding getting what you want is a pain!
However Chris at SRS bent over backwards to help with my choice of gift and it went smoothly.
What was it? Oh yes, the DA*300mm :D
Cannot fault SRS at all.

It just had to be XXmm as the greatest lens. Mind you both are considered the finest Pentax Lenses ever made. So quite right it had to be between either as the best.
I went for the 77mm
