I have replaced my 5D with a 5D mk II and that's a dreamcombo with the 28/3.5 shift! Working with liveview is so much easier as with the viewfinder. You don't have to switch between working aperture and the desired aperture for the final photo, liveview will just compensate the lack of light when working on the desired aperture. It also easier to check on small miss alignments of the lens.

A test picture of a building around the corner (Amsterdam)

Some light postprocessing with lightroom. Aperture around f/11

I see a lot of pictures with a kind of soft focus like effect. Why shooting on 1.2 with that softness as the lens got way better with only 1/2 or 1 stop extra?

I use a black ME-F for daily shooting. It has the pro's of the ME Super and adds a focus confirmation (with or without sound). Black ME-F's are very hard to find but chrome one's are less rare (and less expensive).

My favorite photostore had 3 rolls of kodak 200 asa, so i bought it for my pentax 110. After a week they had new stock, and when i asked, the said there was a normal delivery of that film. So maybe kodak is most easy to get?

Suggestion for tilt-shift lens for architecture

Agree with that. I do use it on a digital body, but not a pentax. A fullframe Canon is the one who's enjoying the view of this great lens.

Although 28mm isn't very wide on a crop camera, it is possible to make wideangle pictures. Just rotate and shift the lens to different positions and stich them together in photoshop. I did it with 10 pictures, 12,7 MP each and ended with a 56 megapixel image (and that was after cropping the image to loose the white corners!)

It will take some time, and maybe you need more pictures when using a cropbody but the result will be worth it!

Gorgeous camera with that databack! I hate straps, only use them in concerts or very crowded spaces, but this one is a nice addition to the came. But drop the butterfly...;)

Just won this very rare black ME-F on ebay:

Camerapedia even says the camera doesn't exist:p Will be a killer street combo together with the 40mm pancake

Maybe me flickr group could be usefull to you: Flickr: Pentax ME (Super) - more than a photopool!

In the discuss section there is a list of all M-series camera's and there are some useful threads about using and repairing them. You can also find over 5000 pictures which are taken with a M-series camera.

My suggestion: get a ME Super if it's only about shooting, the other camera's are more collectibles and/or deliver less options. Although every M-series camera is a pleasure to work with.

Is anyone here using the SMC Pentax 28mm f/3.5 shift? Bought it for around 325$ from a dutch internet marketplace. The lens is in near mint condition, the glas is free of any dust, scratches or fungus.

With the help of an adapter you can use pentax lenses on a crop (1.6x) digital body but not on a full frame because of the lever for the aperture which would hit the mirror. The 28mm shift lacks this lever so i can use it on a digital full frame camera without adjusting the lens. It will focus to infinity and the 28mm make it a real wideangle.

The lens:

and a preview shot with the Canon 5D:

Only shifted a few millimeters. Will post a better example soon!

I'm new here so here is my setup:

2x Pentax ME Super
-SMC Pentax Shift 28mm f/3.5
-SMC Pentax-M 40mm f/2.8
-SMC Pentax-A 50mm f/1.7
-Coslinar Auto MC 135mm f/2.8

Pentax Auto 110
18mm f/2.8
24mm f/2.8

For digital shooting I use a Canon 5D. The 28mm shift is mostly used on the canon with an adapter.

I'm a big fan of the ME Super and started a fangroup on flickr for the M-series Pentax with allready 549 members: Flickr: Pentax ME (Super) - more than a photopool!
