Hi,
I am looking for a less than USD200.00 flash for my K-x. Following are some of the external flash I have come across on the internet.
1. Zeikos ZE AF585P
2. Polaroid PL-144AZ
3. Vivitar DF383
4. Sigma EF610 DG Super (out of budget thou)
Does guide number make much of difference? I have read, the higer the guide number the more powerful flash.
Please advice which of the above mentioned flash is good and reliable.

Hi,
Which hood to buy for DAL 18-55mm and DAL 55-300mm Pentax lenses?
Prices on Ebay and other US sites are way high >$30. Please suggest hood sizes for each lens and will I get alternative locally in India?

Pentax does not have presence in India (Sales and Service). Hence the only option is source the kit from US/Japan and if service is required you will have to send it back to the place you sourced it from.
If you handle the gear with care, service requirement may not arise for years. However you never know.
There are members on this forum from India that have been using Pentax for years without any issues.

How much price drop for K-x can be expected? I am waiting for Photonika and release of K-r. I don't need the K-r with the extra mps. I would love to get the K-x kit with 55-300mm lens.

What options will I have if the Pentax camera or lens stops functioning? Will local camera repair shops be able to help? I am getting worried about my decision to get he Pentax K-x from US.
How did Pentaxians in India manage without any service support?
I am not at all worried about upgrading the lens, since 18-55 and 55-300 should be enough for me for long. However will need other accessories like compatible flash and filters if any. What options will I have?

Thanks again Madhur. What is the best way to learn photography?
Pentax K-x will be my first dslr. All this while I had an Olympus P&S and mostly I would click in auto mode. Very recently I have started experimenting with the Aperture, Fstop settings and struggling.
What would be a good approach to learn photography?
I came across the T2 M42 adapter on ebay. Is this the adapter that will help me use older Pentax lens on the K-x? The price given is 480 INR.

Madhur, thanks for the quick response. Yes my bro brings electronic items without the box or in flattened condition.
Rains will start in June and here in Kerala it will rain till Oct. The conditions will be humid, I am wondering how to keep the lens and camera away from fungus. My Olympus P&S has spider like fungus builtup inside the lens.
Since there will be no service options available, what options will I have to keep the lens off fungus?

Hi,
Yesterday I asked my bro to get a K-x kit + 55-300mm lens for me. He will be traveling to India sometime in July.
I did enough dslr research on the net and concluded on Pentax K-x. I am very excited about this decision, at the same time concerned about no service support and availability of Pentax lens\accessories.
Since my budget was tight, I have only asked for the camera+kit lens+55-300mm which should suffice for me atleast for next yr or so. This package is available for $730.
I have 2 questions:
1.Will I get a compatible flash (new) to buy in India?
2. Will the kit lens and 55-300mm come with cap and hood?
