I agree. I own a K-5 and have held an X100, and they are not even close to the same size and weight.

I have taken my Sigma 17-70mm with me three or four times to China and it will cover most of your shots while touring; so borrow your friend's. The Sigma 10-20mm will work well when you need really wide as Francis mentioned above. I don't see it on your list, but the Pentax 15mm prime is a lens I ended up using more than my 17-70mm last June. The 15mm is so small and light, and is very useful around the small street markets. In warm weather those zooms tend to get heavy, so a prime is nice. I have a Pentax 21mm prime on order and can't wait to try it on my next trip over there.

You guys inspired me. I just ordered the silver 21 and 70 from Pentax. Looking forward to receiving them. I already have a black 40, so I held off on that one.

My Sigma 17-70mm produces very sharp images. Did you adjust the AF for the lens?

The newer Sigma 17-70 is a great lens; better than the Pentax version, in my experience anyway, because of the Pentax SDM which failed on mine (and the replaced SDM still would not lock focus from 65-70mm. The Sigma in-lens OS (you can actually see the OS hold the view in place) is nice, plus it has macro capability.

I bought the Pentax brand, used it for a while but removed it since it was more difficult to compose as mentioned above.

I also purchased Yvon's K-7 book and was not that impressed; like Hound Tooth said, "...a glorified version of the factory owner's manual..."

You will love the DA15. I found it easy to use after only a day or two; plus you cannot beat the lightness of that lens.

I agree with the DA15 recommendation. It is a great street lens and you will get more of the scene in your shot. You can always crop later.

I just pulled mine out if the protective bag and turned the focusing ring while in my hands. I only hear an ever so slight sound while turning it. I guess it could be be called a "zipper" sound; it is just a slight sound heard while holding it horizontal. Holding it verticle (the lens facing straight up) I do not hear that sound. I never paid any attention to the sound before because it is so quiet.
