hi all!
just wondering if this is a problem that I can fix myself... or I have to send it for repair.
In single shot mode, the k-5 takes 2 pictures almost every time I press the shutter. So basically one press of the shutter button makes the shutter fire twice and take 2 pics.
To me that's a really annoying problem. So if you ever had the same experience and had a way to solve it, please share.
Thanks a lot in advance!

hi, Guys,
As in the title, a quick question: the k-5's(or k-7, k20d, etc.) shutter life is designed to be more than 100k. So what about the Half-Press AF life?
My experience is that in some certain cases, when I take a picture, I half-press 3--5 times to auto-focus... So is there a longevity for the half-press? I am worrying that someday, the half-press refuses to work, or in less severe cases, it becomes very sensitive or very insensitive, which will of course impact the shutter.

thanks guys! I believe K-5 keeps enough details even when EV is decreased. But still, doing this is at least not a better way than increase the ISO.
Another thing to consider, though, is that when the DR of the image I want to capture is huge, decreasing the EV in K-5 may help capture the details in all areas. But that's nothing related to shuuter speed...
thanks again!

Hope I don't need to do this.... Anyway, Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!
One Question, does this method bring dust inside the DA*? thanks!

Hi, Guys,
A quick question: when I have the lens wide open and highest usable ISO set, is it a good way to get faster shutter speed by decreasing the EV? Another way of saying it is that is it always possible to get the correct exposure back by PP?
thanks a lot for any input!

i am sure a lot of people bought the k-5 with the epson printer rebate offer. The printer can be sold on ebay for around $300, which makes the price of the k-5 around $1150.

Aussie, you can adjust your lenses by doing some very simple tests(not scientific but they do work well). For DA* 50--135, you can simply turn off the Shake Reduction, then fix the camera and point it to a specific subjuct, such as a book. Then set the lens to f/2.8, take a group of 4 simple pictures using LIVE VIEW, at 50, 70, 90 and 135mm respectively. After that, the most simple way is to take 11 groups of pictures(each group has 4 pics at 50, 70, 90, 135) setting focus adjustment to 0, +1, +2, ..., +10. Then look at the pictures and find which group is the best compared to the LIVE VIEW group.

I think the problem is OK. Try adjust all + adjust one, which can give you +20 adjustment.
Focus adjustment on zoom lenses sometimes gives different results at both ends(i.e. maybe FF at one end and BF at the other end), if that's the case, then send the body together with the lenses to repair.

For potraits, i'd suggest you get the 70+90 combo, considering the price and tamron's macro ability.
The zoom gives you flexibility and 135mm reach, which are not that important for potraits. Plus, it is heavy, and focuses relatively slow.

I think -8 and +10 are absolutely fine(if you are sure that +10 is good enough). The camera offers only very MICRO focus adjustment, which means even a +10 cannot suggest anything is wrong. Send the camera to warranty is fine now, but if you upgrade to other lenses in the future, it may be a problem again.

FYI, my k-5's AF works fine under artificial light. I don't know if it relevant or not, my serial number is 3970***.

James, the picture was shot with da* 16--50.
I just noticed that I shot the same scene with the k-7 and da* 16--50 in November, almost under the same level of sunlight, at a different angle though. Surprisingly, what I just found is that the k-7 also produced considerable amount of PF, actually on par with the K-5...
So I don't know if the k-5 amplify PF... at least from my samples.

mine combination of k-5 and da* 535 is "fine". Tackle sharp from 70--120, very tiny back focus at 50 and 135... that's the problem with zoom lenses, you can never find a good constant adjustment throughout the zoom range...
