It can be confusing as presented on the actual product web page with the link provided...
Price is $99.99, APPLYING the Promo Code during the purchase process takes off $74.99 reducing the cost to $25. Buy it at that price and mail in the rebate to get the $25 - thus Free.
Make sure when going through the purchase process to apply the email promo code to get the $74.99 off. The promo code is only accepted if you have signed up for emails which if you aren't already, you can easily do.
It works - I bought. Just the hassle of a rebate.

Well I've got to wait now, ups delivery delayed "due to weather".
The way this whole experience has gone, my luck would be the ups truck was in an accident which spilled packages all over the road.
I suppose I'll have to look for evidence of road salt on the outside of the box when I get it [emoji1]

As to whether the dealer actually tells you whether you are getting a new or return, I specifically asked that and was told the only sell new.
Now whether that is actually the truth....[emoji1]
I'll just look closely to see if there is a seal which has to be broken in order to open the box and try to determine if it was tampered with. Unless they stock boxes and seals, that is probably the only way to detect if it's a return.
In any case, the proof is in the pudding and it seems checking out its performance is what matters. It could be new and a bad copy that should be returned.
I'm more concerned at this point to get my cc credited to get the sale price.

FWIW- Regarding whether these are xmas returns, I specifically asked whether my lens would be new or possibly a xmas return. The response I received was " Yes, we only ship new products."

Called and had to send them proof of my ordering at the sale price. Like some others early on, the response I received indicated it was too late in the process to correct the cc charged amount, they will have to apply a credit to adjust. I should wait a couple days for that to appear.
Some have been charged the correct amount straight off, others, like me, got charged the regular price and have to ensure a credit is given. Seems YMMV. So be sure to check your credit card charged amount sooner than later to make sure it is correct or you have to call to get it adjusted.

Called yesterday to check the status of my order. Was previously told they expected a shipment on the 17th, but that wasn't for certain.
Now told expect two to three weeks. Oh well. I fall into the camp that I'm not in an urgent need and I'll be happy to actually finally get it at such a great price even if it means having to wait and be patient.
Now I hope it doesn't actually get shipped until into January so it falls into the following months billing cycle!

Yep, what Al_Kohollick said.
In my case I was able to have the company I ordered from redirect to a different address after I ordered. It occurred to me after I placed the order that it wasnt a good idea to send it to the house when it is supposed to be surprise...

That would be the expectation, but then, it was emphasized that the 17th was an estimated arrival at the moment. Didn't sound like there was a firm expectation one way or the other that's when they would be received.
In any case, I don't have an haven't urgent need and will be happy if I eventually get it at the price. (Hoping to not have a repeat of the February web store $20 hand grip experience) Otherwise it would of been a long time till I would have been able to justify spending the normal cost or getting one used.
You might want to check with them prior and if they ship ups, they can redirect the delivery ahead of time. Otherwise, once you have a tracking number you can go online to ups and redirect it yourself, or indicate to hold for pickup....

Called today to check on my order since the credit card pend expired. All's well with my order, still backordered at the black friday price, was told they expect a shipment on the 17th.
