I shot this last week at Atlanta Motorsports Park. I learned the technique from a friend. I never used my fish-eye lens to capture the motion. I submit this cropped version as it shows how sharp I was able to keep the driver.
I just need to keep learning.
Hope you enjoy,
Bob

I've never considered myself a landscape photographer. I saw the contest and started going back trough vacation pictures. While I do have a lot of great memories, none stood out that meet the criteria of this event. My k10 with a $12.50 zoom lens captured the moments and views, just not with any quality or power.
The other night, I was fishing on the Chattahoochee river in Roswell, GA. I carry my Pentax w90 on my belt for pictures of any fish I may catch and then release. As the sun was setting, I decided to try and get artsy and held the camera half in/out of the river.
While I have a lot to learn. I felt this picture, from bubbles to the sun, captured the theme of this contest.
I hope you enjoy.
Cheers,
Bob

Would love to see comparison shots from each lens. I'm just starting to debate the same choice in my head.

More like a "which one of these things don't belong" test. :)

I decided to lay the camera in the grass at my daughters lacrosse game and "pull the trigger". I thought it turned out nice.

The lens I ordered is a "DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED". I also ordered the "DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 AL IF (DC) WR" for a walking around and rainy day lens.
So it looks like I need to keep the aperture as open as possible, the shutter speed as high as possible and the ISO set to get the best result with the least amount of noise.
I appreciate all the input.
I'm looking forward to learning how best to use this. My K10 was left primarily in Green Mode and did great in the daylight.

I just received my K5 yesterday and I'm digging into the manual to learn all the controls.
My daughter plays lacrosse here in Georgia and the lights at the stadium are not the greatest.
I'm looking for some basic settings as a starting point for taking the shots.
I know this is a broad and wide open question.
BTW, I tried to search on sport photos for previous giuidance and failed... :(
