I had one brief encounter with a hammerhead once-a small one, about 4 feet long. He just brushed up against me. The scariest thing was suddenly being in a school of mullet once and a bunch of barracuda decided to dine on them and I got a finger nipped. They weren't big barracuda by an means, but I got all my limbs up on my board pretty quick. My dad told me later they like shiny things and was probably drawn to my hand because I was wearing my class ring. Last time I ever wore it surfing, believe me.

Another one who grew up on the East Coast of Fl. and got my first board when I was 12. It was a long board-I was around 5 ft. at the time and the board was about 6'something. A word of advice-if you ever find yourself paddling and are suddenly in a school of bait fish-get out of there. Things with sharp teeth follow schools like that. LOL! Surfing is addicting, but I've always loved the water.

They lost me when they said that Google would PP the photos. No thanks, I prefer to do it myself. Back in the dinosaur days when cameras shot film, I didn't have the space or money to develop my own shots. So, I took them to the local Walgreens. I got them back with a sticker in the middle of a photo that said something along the lines of focusing better. That really ticked me off because I had purposely fuzzed the focus and ever since then, I haven't wanted anybody else to PP my stuff.

Tareyton cigarette slogan "I'd rathr fight than switch". I think it was Tareyton. I know the last Halloween I went trick or treating, it was a last minute thing, and I had no costume. That commercial came on TV and that's what I went with-with my moms' mascara making my black eye. LOL! As for TV-remember when the remote control was you or a sibling walking over to the TV and changing the channel?

I'm fortunate enough that the diopter on my K-X works for me. I've also worn glasses forever, so they don't bother me when I'm shooting.

This^^. I remember after Andrew and Katrina, and a few others, the Red Cross asked people to stop sending "stuff" simply because there was no place to store it and the logistics of giving it out were a nightmare. I forget how many tons of donated clothing were ruined after Andrew because there was no place to store them except in a parking lot-outside. It all mildewed and got ruined.

Speaking as another indigenous person, who had family suffer greatly in the name of "Christianity", I don't have much use for organized religion. I do think the Bible has a few good things in it , though. A couple always come to mind when I hear bigot preachers say this group or that group should die. One is "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". So, since these bigots are so hellbent on following the Bible-does this mean that they should be killed, too, since that's what they are advocating for the LGBT community? The other is "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". How many of these holier than thou types are boffing some other guys' wife?
As for the whack job snake handler guy-wonder what he expected? My Grandfather told me a trick some of those people use sometimes so they aren't bitten. They put the container with the snake in a fridge for a couple of hours before handling it to "mellow" it out.

A couple of times when I've been shooting with macro, I've been too close and the shutter wouldn't fire until I backed up a bit. Other than that, I've never had it happen.

I've been using Sagelight for over a year and really like it. Can't answer to the EXIF issue, but do know that Rob has been really busy lately. It isn't a poorly supported product, just a product supported by one man. Have you posted this issue in the Sagelight Image Editor Discussion Board ? Somebody there might be able to help you out.

It is fun to find other Pentaxians. In all the years I've been shooting with one, I've only come across one other and we were both shooting K-1000s-that's how long ago it was. i was really surprised to see one in this little town-until I had chatted with her a few minutes. :)

The county I live in has 3 "major" festivals scattered throughout the year. The first one, nearest to me is the Crawfish Festival. It's a neat parade, good food, arts and crafts and stuff for kids. My son and I took my 3 year old grandson. He was in the petting zoo and I was shooting away. Next to me was another woman shooting and I noticed her camera strap said Pentax. I started looking at her camera out of the corner of my eye and her camera looked like a K-X. So, I asked her if it was. Her reply "No, it's a Pentax". Allllrighty then. After she said that, she turned the camera towards her and goes "Oh gosh, it is a K-X". I just smiled and held mine up. She started asking me about the lens hood, where to get lenses and so on. Of course she had no idea you could use the older glass on the newer cameras. I told her about the forums, so maybe she will sign up and learn about her camera. I've never met anybody who didn't know what model camera they had. It was just one of those things that kind of make you go "hmmmmm".

Before I start-let me say that being half Cheyenne, I have encountered racism in my life. It ain't pretty. It seems that whenever anything like this happens, which is way too often, and the media blows it up into the story of the month, there are always those who will come out of the woodwork to scream "racism". Taken out of contex, this statement by you " it is plain and clear that every single person of african american descent has already deemed zimmerman as guilty, it is sooooooooooo evident by not only every single rally but also by virtue of every single comment you can gather about this from the internet - just look at the comments for the linked article below:" could be considered by some to be racist. I'm not saying it is by any means, I'm saying that some would see it that way. Whenever anything like this happens, people seem to stick together according to their race. I didn't see many white people in the rallies for Trayvon when they showed them on TV. I was kind of surprised by that. I figured there would be people of all races there who were outraged over the killing of this teen. To me, that's what it boils down to-an armed man with a rather questionable history shot an unarmed teenager- doesn't matter to me what color either one of them is.
I'm a native Floridian who no longer lives there. What truly needs to be put on trial here is the Stand Your Ground law itself. This particular law has loose wording and it either needs to be tightened up or done away with completely. I remember the day this law went into effect, there were people with signs in airports in Orlando, Jacksonville and Miami, saying "Welcome to Florida. Don't make anybody mad, because now they can shoot you legally".
I don't know what happened that night-I wasn't there. I do believe that Zimmerman should have backed off following Martin when told to do so by the 911 operator. I'm glad I don't live in Florida anymore. They will probably move this trial-if they can find a place to hold a fair trial. As for Zimmerman, nothing wrong with trying to raise money for a decent defense or bail. If it were me, I probably would have felt a lot safer in jail in solitary. I'm sure this is going to cause a lot more white vs.black vs. Hispanic in the coming months and I really hate to see that. I've learned over the years that color really doesn't matter because we are all human beings and we all bleed red.

Except for the UK part, this was me when I first got my K-X. Within 5 minutes of ordering it, I had the manual downloaded on my laptop and was reading it while waiting for the camera to arrive. I believe in manuals-if only to avoid doing something stupid and voiding the warranty. I still don't use all the functions regularly and will refer back to the manual when I want to use something I've only used once or twice.

Bravo!! Well put. that pretty much sums up how I feel, but could not have put it that eloquently. My husband is a legit candidate for SS disability, (he's 61 and has cancer), and they have been jacking us around for nearly a year. They have gotten us other help like Food Stamps and last year, they pointed us in a direction for heating help. It got us one tank of LP gas and that was $400 we didn't have to shell out. I'm kind of hard headed, and even though both of us have worked pretty much all of our lives, and paid what we were supposed to pay-why can't we get the SSD?? I would much rather have that to add to what I earn a month. It would give us breathing room when it comes to the bills-and take a load off our minds. It's kind of like they want to keep us "broke".

I don't really have any sympathy for Paterno, He did what policy required of him. I don't believe he thought it was his responsibility to follow up on it after that and went back to coaching football. I've known people like him before. They are single minded when it comes to stuff like that. For whatever reason the powers that be have, they didn't think enough of the allegation to follow through on it. Do I believe that was the right thing to do? Hell no it wasn't. People turn away from child abuse far too often, it usually doesn't get the press that this has gotten. If the laws of Pa. had been different than they are, this would be a different scenerio than it is now.
RML-that wasn't me talking about sodomy. If anybody wants to see what the victims have to say, read the indictment. You will find out in graphic detail what they have to say. Somebody should have seen the warning light decades ago when this Sandusky was showering with "his" kids.

Even if somebody did report this to the police, I'm not surprised there is no report. Most of the income this town gets comes from the school. To file a report would kind of be like biting the hand that feeds them. Paterno broke no laws according to the state of PA..Morally and ethically is a whole different question. Yes, he should have reported it to the cops. That's why they are scrambling to change those laws now. I think he should have been left alone to do his job until all the facts are out there, but that would have put the focus on the scandle instead of the game. I think it was extremely tacky of them to fire a man with Paterno's reputation and longevity, over the phone. I read the indictment online. It's horrifying and I don't believe it's made up. On the news tonight, I heard that there are now people coming forward from the 70's with the same accusations.

Depending on where you are, this is the time of year when snakes are moving looking for a place to spend the winter. In the last 3 weeks we've killed 2 ground rattlers on the back sidewalk of our house and I've seen 2 rattlers (diamondback and timber) on the road to the house. Once you hear a rattler rattle, it's a sound you will never forget. If he was already rattling, you are dang lucky he didn't bite you when you looked to see what the noise was.
