Thank you for the help everyone - I suspected my over zealous deleting of a few images over a period of time might be causing problems. I guess I should just reformat the card - except for those 30 + images I am hoping are still on the card that I can somehow retrieve first!

I have a K20D and purchased a Lexar Platinum 16 gb sd card a few months ago which seems to randomly fail to show images I have taken. When this occurs I get a blank screen and the message " image cannot be displayed". I do delete images to free space on the card fairly often - could this be causing issues with the card? The other problem is that when I have no more memory left and the card is full, I see the message on the lcd screen and and then an hour glass icon appears and will not dissappear. it just remains in that mode.Yesterday I had somewhere between 30 - 40 images that where showing which disappeared after this scenario. I had to turn off the camera and remove the battery in order to stop it. I know there are various recovery software that allow the retrieval of deleted or corrupt images etc. so is that my one option available? I hope what I have mentioned makes sense and thank you for any advice!

Riding around I had to capture this cloud formation, it was not the best location between two buildings but something is better than nothing as the light was fading fast. i hope it interests the cloud lovers. |

Two more. The first is a chipmunk feeding on a raw almond at Rock Creek Vista Point in Custer National Forest. Dozens of the critters were scurrying around gathering food from passing visitors and since it was around 10,00 ft. and Winter is around the corner I can see why. The second photo is just East of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Passed through here on the way to Buffalo from Cody on U.S Hwy. 16 which winds through Bighorn National Forest and is another very worthwhile scenic drive. |

Couldn't resist some shots of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and the Firearms Museum section. Difficult to get artistic with a lot of glare from the display cases. Just a very few of thousands of guns of every type. I really enjoyed a small section that showcased some used in various tv shows and movies, such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, and Winchester 73. |

Thank you for your comments, I took so many photos that remembering where some of them were from became a bit difficult! Tamia - the locations from the first picture are: near Vantage, Washington looking West; #2 & 3 Devil's Tower National Monument, Wyoming; 4 & 5 around the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming; 6, 7 & 8 along the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway, Wyoming and the last two are in the Black Hills in South Dakota near Mount Rushmore. I don't want to over do posting images but will try a few more later. If anyone wants a memorable driving experience The Bear Tooth hwy. 212 through onto the Chief Joseph and into Cody, Wyoming is fantastic. And the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody another very interesting place to visit. If you like weapons or are just curious the firearms museum alone is phenomenal in it's scope but there is a lot more to see on Western Culture.

A recent trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota had us traveling south on Hwy. 78 towards the Beartooth Scenic Highway. One of the best routes to travel for unsurpassed scenery. Found myself taking many pictures while the car was moving as we could not stop for everything. A bit blurry but passable I hope. |

Thank you enoeske and everyone else for helping me understand what was happening, I just had never come across it using FastStone with many other images previously. Maybe it is time for Lightroom or something similar!

Since I am not sure what is causing this phenomenon, although it reminds me of a jpeg image that has been compressed. I just purchased a basic Hoya HMC UV filter and used it for the first time - never had this crop up before. Any images I took with the sky in it showed this to varying degrees, but only in RAW ( DNG), jpegs at the highest quality settings are fine. Anyone have an answer for this? I have yet to take some pictures with the filter removed in case this is the problem, seems kind of odd though. I am using FastStone to download the images if that matters. I'm fairly new to digital photography so maybe I am missing something. The camera is a K20D with the DA 16-45 lens. |

Yes, this was last night, I rode a mountain bike with my brother and had to try a shot as we were riding through Stanley Park. Managed to find a garbage bin to rest the camera on. It was great sitting and watching the clouds moving with the bright moon.

Tried getting some sort of a shot from a moving car as we drove towards the town of Hope. The rising sun was still quite bright - not the best way to get a decent exposure. |
