dgais- I completely agree!!! What is the point of us spending the money and it sitting around...I am already devising a plan to talk my husband into letting me have it! I hope it will work. Maybe some type of bribery.

cdurfor- Thanks! I love his baby blues.

So ,as I am researching I am finding that the Limited primes are great. How much of a difference is there between a prime that is a "limited" and one that is not? I want a quality even if that means I can only get one lens for now and have to save up to buy another later.
I understand that one lens isn't going to do everything I want, but I would like a good starting point.
Currently, I have a Pentax k200D with the kit lens 18-55mm zoom.
I don't think I will have a problem getting close to my subject. It will be moslty posed portraits.

The more I research the more I like primes. I think that I could possibly work with one of those for now and save up for a better zoom later. There are so many options to choose from! I am like a little kid in a very expensive candy store. I just don't know what to do!

Thanks! I am looking for something that I can use on babies and children, but that will also work for family groups as well. I guess that a zoom would be better for that. However, I don't have $820 laying around. I want to eventaully invest in both types of lenses, but I have a limited budget and can only afford around $400-$500. The lense is actually going to be a Christmas present from my husband.

Which is better for portrait photography, prime or zoom lense?
I don't know too much about lenses but I am trying to figure out which one to purchase. I want to get a good portrait lense that will work in multiple situations.

I used the Energizer rechargeables and they stink. They died in like a week. I was very dissappointed because they are pretty expensive.

I've never heard of Eneloops. I always used the Lithium batteries. Are Eneloops better?

Now I am just trying to decide which new flash to buy! There are so many to choose from. I think I might try the Sigma EF 530. Anyone have one of these?

(The Pentax flashes are just a bit too expensive for me, well my husband really :()

It is a Digital Concepts 952 AF. Thank you so much for you help. I think I will just buy a new one. I don't think I could fix it myself and it would probably be easier to just buy a new one.

Steve1307- thanks for the strobe idea, I think I will do that.

I have a Pentax K200D and I recently got an external flash. The piece that connects the flash to the camera broke. I think the piece may be called the foot. I'm not sure. I'm new to the whole flash idea. I was just wondering if anone knows how I can get it replaced. I took it to Ritz Camera and they said it would probably cost more to repair than to buy a new flash. Any ideas on where I can just buy the specific part I need? I think I can replace it myself. Thanks!
