I also pre-ordered the originl K-1, then upgraded it.
Still love the camera.
I wouln't want to change much on the K1-iii, but here is my short wish-list

- speed. I'd like faster, more reactive handling
- bigger buffer
- faster wifi
- various upgrades for video, particularly AF, with appropriate lens.
- joystick
- touchscreen
- maybe that "large viewfinder tech" from the latest K3iii

and DO NOT CHANGE THE MOONLANDER ARTICULATION!!!!!!!! It's the best thing ever!

Advice for Wildlife Shooting

The trick is to get close.
The closer you are, the bigger the subject in the VF, easier for the camera to know what the subject is. And of course you get many more pixels on the subject. Getting close takes patience, time practice, and experience. You must have some knowledge about the wildlife you want to photograph. Where they live, when they rest, when they eat, whet they are scared of. A lot depends on the time of day, angle of the sunlight, and wind, etc. And some camo. Less on the camera. My 2 cents!

Starting from scratch: K1ii, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8... and FA 43 + M20 or wider....

Given that i have the K1, 24-70, the 3 amigos and a bunch of others....
I'd spend on the 15-30, 70-200 and DFA* 50.

PENTAX plan in 2013 - who can translate?

Ricoh bought Pentax, and its primary asset was the K mount and customer base. Why would they ditch the K mount now?

A 645 mirrorless (Mamiya 6 or 7 style) would be awesome, but not for my pocket, sadly.

Pentax is not about to build the smallest FF camera system (at least not in K mount): Leica does that now. Sony may join in with a FF NEX. Leica and Sigma have had all sorts of problems with color casts in the corners of wide angle lens.

Why does everybody seem to think APS-C is so bad? It's not. It just happens to compete with FF on one side and 4/3 on the other. Just like FF is between MF and APS-C... With aps-c, you get plenty of bokeh, significantly more reach than FF, a little more DOF for macros, a smaller mirror to move... For me 16 mpx is plenty, and it affords cheap speed (fps and buffer). DR is awesome, high iso is great and will only get better. With the DA limiteds, it's much smaller than competitors FF... The K5 is at the top of that hill, they should keep expanding their APS-C line. I do think Pentax should launch a pro aps-c body before anything else. With dual card readers, a top-shelf AF system with good tracking abilities and dedicated AF point control buttons, and 100% magnification viewfinder. I wouldn't mind a built-in grip, as mine is glued on the K5. I do like the Pentax approach to getting more resolution, with AA-less sensors and aparently in-mody anti-moire: it keeps the low noise as well as the high-speed performance.

That said, i would like a FF Pentax as well: I will get much more out of my legacy glass, which is already stressed by the 16mpx aps-c sensor. They could start with a FF camera that is friendly to legacy glass users as well as newer DA users. Friendly to old glass users could mean a split-prism focusing screen option, and focus peaking. They could also provide a hood for hand-held live-view. Friendly to DA users means a crop mode. This would give Pentax more time to develop their FF lens lineup, and less haste for us to build a FF lens system. They could also beef up video capabilities - all those Taks are being bought by Canonites for video.. Again, a factory hood would be nice. Finally, they should fit it with the MX's huuuuge viewfinder.

K-3 Full Frame Technical Requirements

That could be a possibility. Make it look like an LX, with a biiig pentaprism, throw in a second focusing screen with split-prism, style it to match the limiteds and the A's, kinda like the new Olympus.
I'd get one in a heartbeat. Then they can launch an FA 20 limited and an FA 135 limited. They'll have the same filter diameter as the 31. I mean why must there be a 24-70. Leica doesn't have one. Pentax could chose to do what makes them special, and that's small rugged ergonomic bodies, and limited lens. I know this is a niche market, somewhere between Canikon and Leica. There are many (lucky) people with Nikon AND Leica systems!

I don't need many AF points, many fps, advanced AF tracking algorithms and a huge buffer on a FF camera.

In fact, I'd rather have them on an APS-C, for wildlife and sports.

Things you want Pentax to improve on K5

- I've been thinking along these lines too, but a bit different: 3 dials (Aperture, Shutter, ISO). Push a dial to set it to auto mode.
Though i do love the current layout.

- I'd also like the ability to manually set the power of the pop-up flash (full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 power, etc) This is especially with the use of legacy lens / M42.
I use the pop-up a lot with the K5, since i have no clearance problems thanks to the small size of limited and legacy lens.
(This could even be a firmware update)

- Better standard focusing screen. I've upgraded to a Canon S type and i'm very impressed with it.

- I don't really care for more resolution, but (even) better low ISO i would like a lot.

The rest has already been mentionned, but i'll just write what's more important for me:
- Higher-spec AF system with more accuracy, more points and better AF-C. I recognize the K5 is a HUGE improvement over my previous Pentax (the istdL).
- Manual video overrides

I really like the K5. The above is just about refining the already refined! :)

How so much people here don't admit with FF IQ advantage?

MF > FF > APS
very simple, really, as far as pure IQ goes.

But the beasts are different.

MF targets studio and landscapes, optimized IQ at iso 50, most sensors are without an AA filter. At iso 50, FF doesn't stand a chance!

FF cameras are do-it-all cameras. IQ wise, I'd say they are 2-3 years ahead of APS-C IQ.
I must say I do have a soft for the sports models, but I know I'd dislike carrying a D3s or a 1Div. I'd also dislike paying for them, and for the optics they deserve. But if I were a pro, i wouldn't hesitate, based on the lens options, accessories & software compatibility, AF systems and service networks. The slight IQ advantage is just a bonus.

Realistically, for the use I do, the K5's 16mpx, standard ISO 12800, 12 stop DR etc are more than enough IQ. With a tripod & live view & good lens, the detail is stunning. Add to that in-body stabilization and limited primes, and I get a sub-kilo package that can challenge (IQ-wise) a FF DSLR with its 24-70 f/2.8 weighing more than twice as much! For me, that difference in size means that I'll have the camera with me much more often.

I also have a Pentax 67. Leaving home with the beast is a pure photo outing. The K5 can also come on non-photo outings. Not so with the 67! The 70-200 is likely to stay home too!

All I really want from PENTAX is 50 AF points with awesome tracking, and a 500mm f/4 lens, or at least a teleconverter!!!
