I also pre-ordered the originl K-1, then upgraded it.
Still love the camera.
I wouln't want to change much on the K1-iii, but here is my short wish-list
- speed. I'd like faster, more reactive handling
- bigger buffer
- faster wifi
- various upgrades for video, particularly AF, with appropriate lens.
- joystick
- touchscreen
- maybe that "large viewfinder tech" from the latest K3iii
and DO NOT CHANGE THE MOONLANDER ARTICULATION!!!!!!!! It's the best thing ever!

The trick is to get close.
The closer you are, the bigger the subject in the VF, easier for the camera to know what the subject is. And of course you get many more pixels on the subject. Getting close takes patience, time practice, and experience. You must have some knowledge about the wildlife you want to photograph. Where they live, when they rest, when they eat, whet they are scared of. A lot depends on the time of day, angle of the sunlight, and wind, etc. And some camo. Less on the camera. My 2 cents!

Acquired by Sony, Pentax would have been as dead as minolta. Their factories would be producing Sony-branded small limited primes, and there would be a Sony-branded K-to-Sony-mount adaptor. Nothing more.
Acquired by Samsung, i think even less of Pentax would have survived. Maybe a Pentax label on the phones with a high end camera.
There might be a dedicated videocamera for me in the near future, but I'm very happy with my Pentax for stills, there's no other brand i'd rather have. I'll get the K1iii when it comes out, but i'm in no hurry.

I'd be VERY concerned about the power and data cable jack.
I change my phone every 1.5 years, usually the reason is that the power jack has failed. That's how long it takes for me.
Unless i drop the phone too many times, or go swimming with it, in which case i need to change the phone sooner.
USB-C seems sturdier than previous jacks.

I agree, a really premium 24-70/2.8 would make my day, i'd upgrade my current version.
It's my most used lens by far.

Starting from scratch: K1ii, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8... and FA 43 + M20 or wider....
Given that i have the K1, 24-70, the 3 amigos and a bunch of others....
I'd spend on the 15-30, 70-200 and DFA* 50.

Thank you for your reply Mistral. Not having focus confirmation or CIF on a lens with so little dof I think would be a problem in use.. However, i'd like to be proven wrong, so i'm looking forward to reading about someones experiences. But I think it would be better on a Sony A7ii...
Yikes, the size of that thing is scaaaary! I saw the announcement on the dpreview page.

In view of the K1, I've been wondering what lens i'd like between m 77 and my A* 200 macro (I know, that's terrible ;P). I currently have a Pentacon 135/2.8, known as the bokeh-monster, and i'm thinking of upgrading it. I like it a lot, but wide open, it's not like these new lenses. Bokeh is great also stopped down thanks to the 18 circular aperture blades. But it's M42 mount and I find it a pain to use... It's hard to mount and unmount, then you have to stop down to meter, open up again, focus, stop down again, shoot. Ugh.
So i'm thinking,
1. will the laowa have aperture coupling? It seems not - it's like an "M" lens, and will work like the Pentacon. The Samyang is an "A" lens, which is good news.
2. will the laowa allow focus confirmation and therefore CIF? If I recall, the Minolta stf, because of the apodization lens, did not give an AF lock.
3. How are the coatings on the laowa? The Samyang coatings seem mediocre imho.
Maybe we'll get a DFA 135/2.8 limited next year? Or a DFA* 135/1.8!!!!

Photo taken with Pentax Q
Converted in camera to B&W Infra-Red.
Severe banding occurred in the sky, so i "fixed" that in post, keeping the same look as close as i could, minus the banding.

Maybe it's because of the KS1 current price vs K50 current price that makes it the worst camera of the year.....
It might drop to much muh less, like the Q, the K-01.... Donno if this weird pricing strategy is working well for them.

Which mode should be used for BIFs and other moving targets?
What's the difference? Was the tracking test done in AF-C or AF-A?

IMHO (with the little birding experience i have) WR is a big deal when you're running around on beaches, sand dunes, marshes, mountain tops, forests, etc...

Yes, there were 4 or 5 people playing under each hoop, and 3-4 balls on the court.

I was with the family at the playground. Meanwhile some kids on the basketball court next to us were shooting their last hoops of the day before it got dark.
I never shoot sports, but I hope you like it! :D
Shot with Pentax K5 and smc-A 50mm f/1.2 at f/4
