The Super Moon was hiding behind some wispy clouds last night but the sky was clear when I got up early this morning. Pentax K-3 and Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM, moonset at 05:58 AM from the southern hemisphere. IMGP8189_PSCC by Ray Allen, on Flickr

It beats the heck out of me! My 18-135 spends most of its life on the front of my K-3. They came together as a kit.

If it's any consolation, Dave, my Tamron 10-24mm at 10mm does not always nail focus on the K10D. I do what you do, and switch to MF and the camera is happy. And so am I.

That is just magnificent, Dave. Beautiful light, beautifully captured and with a fantastic reflection. One of your best IMHO. Great camera and lens combo.

Well done, Dave. I don't think that you will be sorry with that purchase. And you now have AF again for your Sigma 10-20.

Thank you, kind sir. I knew that the conditions were right that day for taking the K10D on an outing. And it did not disappoint.

An old church at Silverdale (outer west Sydney) which has been converted into a house. Shot with a Yashica 635 TLR on Ilford FP4, self processed, and scanned on an Epson Pefection V600 Photo scanner with a CCD sensor. So, I guess that qualifies to post here! scan0011_Web by Ray Allen, on Flickr scan0012_Web by Ray Allen, on Flickr

Thank you, Dave and Paul. When my old Minolta Dimage 35mm film scanner finally died, the economical solution was to buy a flatbed that was also able to scan film. That has proven to be a good choice for me. An unexpected benefit was that it also allowed me to scan the relatively few 6X6 negs that I have. Those negs were always nice to work with in the darkroom but now I can work on them with the light on!

There are many negatives I could say about the Pentax X90 but I would rather talk about the positives: a great Pentax lens and a 12MP CCD sensor. The images never look anything special either on the rear screen or the EVF, but it's when you get them on the computer that the magic is obvious.

Yes, it is just a minor inconvenience that you soon get used to. If only Pentax had continued fitting an externally accessible battery like on the *istD.

Paul, I promised to tell you more about the "new" K10D that I received from @fluegel. Here is my account of what has happened in the interim and the background to it.
It is always nice to get a camera in pristine condition with a low shutter count. Mine was under 4000. But a shutter count that low in a camera which is more than 15 years old means that the camera was probably left for long periods with either a flat battery or no battery in the camera. In Pentax cameras that means that the small rechargeable battery (on the main circuit board) which holds the date and time data loses its charge completely. There is a thread on the forum which explains this (Maintainance of CMOS or memory or backup-battery - PentaxForums.com) and it contains suggested methods to recharge that battery. These methods have been proven to work but there is no 100% guarantee that they will work in every case.
Over many days I tried both methods suggested but, for my "new" camera, they did not work. I am satisfied that I did all that I could but the backup battery would not recharge. That just means that every time I have to change the camera battery, I have to re-enter the date and time information. That only takes a few seconds and I can then start taking photos until that battery runs out. The functionality of the camera is in no way affected.
I feel very fortunate that I now have backup camera for my original K10D. There is no such thing as too many K10Ds. :)
