I'm a little dubious. Seems unlikely that they would discontinue the K-3 III until they have something else in the pipeline.
(Maybe this is a sign of a K-3 IV coming which will be a K-3 III with a tilt screen...)

Over the years I have learned that the only lens reviews that interest me are the ones I make of my own based on how I use those lenses.
A lens may not be exceptional, but if I like it for my photos, I'll keep it. And a lens may be extraordinary, but if I don't like it for any reason, I'll sell it for sure. ;)

Thank you. You're very kind. I never thought I would ever visit, let alone live in, South America, but from the time of high school geography, the only South American countries that interested me were the Andean nations of Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. And here I am. Photography is a way to share, and I'm as interested in the gear as in the process as in the photos. There's lots of room for improvement, but it's a journey and certainly a fascinating one.
My real name is Bill. "Andrew_Oid" is a play on "android" (no doubt obvious to most) and was chosen for fun a decade or so ago. This and Flickr are the only social media I participate in. If you don't know it and want to see more pictures from my new home, William Bolton | Flickr . Thanks again.

Thank you very much!
The EX1 is a live view camera and you can always see how the photo will turn out, so no measurement of any kind is necessary.
Adjusting the speed, aperture and ISO to my liking is all I did.
With mirrorless cameras, measuring makes no sense, since you always see the photo before taking it.
With a SLR the matter is very different. 😉

Thanks. Pretty sure that was around f/5.6 or narrower. But it's such a fiddly little lens it's easy to knock the settings off by just focusing. But it has "character" :) Did you get the funky little hood with yours?

@Dartmoor Dave, @Nuno Thanks :o, but this is more like a social network style snap, taken just for fun - not with a smartphone but with a vintage DSLR and a huge lens.
Things like this have to be photographed as soon as possible until somebody finds out - how dangerous in such a position it is ... blah blah blah ... must be removed immediately and the author punished ... blah blah blah.
Actually this is a minor village crossing where probably no collision happened since the establishing of this single track sometime in the 19th century.
Some children might be scared though.

Thank you very much, Paul.
If only such beautiful cars were still made. Great colour capture!

These days I often grab one or two lenses with me and go out shooting. Rarely need a backpack whatsoever.
So it sure matters to me. One solid reason I sold the SMC 135mm/2.5 is the weight and size. Haha, many would argue 500 g is nothing I know maybe I am just spoiled by those f 2, f 2.8 lenses that I mostly use as f 5.6, f 8.

As always, it's complicated. . .
The reason why even modern prime lenses tend to be so big and heavy is that they are highly optically corrected to appeal to the sort of buyers who care mostly about MTF charts, and it takes a lot of glass to achieve that. The end result is lenses so highly corrected that the more arty-fartically minded types of photographer (like me) find them sterile and boring and characterless.
So my own preference is for smaller, lighter lenses. On the one hand that's because they're easier to carry around, but mostly it's because smaller lighter lenses tend to be less optically corrected and so they produce results with more character.

I spend my money where/when I want to - if Pentax closes up shop, it doesn't mean my K-3, GXR, or 645D will stop working the following day...
