Poll: Who's sticking with APSc?

FF is a luxury for me. Everything about it is more expensive. It would be nice to mount my 31, 77, and 100 macro on it, that's for sure.

The K-01 is most certainly form over function. And I happen to like that camera.

If I could give Winder +1 via tapatalk I would. He nailed it from A to Z.

Pentax didn't need the K-S1. There are at least a half dozen products or upgrades that could been realized instead. Things like leaf-shutter lenses for the 645, ring motors to replace SDM, DC-powered lit zooms. The list goes on.

How does the K-S1 push the envelope? I don't see it. All they did was move some buttons around, reduce ergonomics and add gimmicky lights.

They're not consistent and it may be hurting the brand. Many of us think that Pentax needs to stick with a concept and run with it.

The K-S1 is a major deviation from what they have been doing. The K500, K50, K3 lineup was terrific and offered something the competition didn't have. There's really no reason for the K-S1 to exist, honestly. The R&D costs associated with it could have been spent on upgrading the kit zooms to DC motors or something.

Where is Ricoh Pentax going?

I haven't read through the entire thread. Forgive me if someone posted something similar.

In my opinion, Pentax is going to have to stay afloat on the SLR ship. I don't see how they are going to be competitive in mirrorless with all of the competition. They're also going to need a FF SLR. I say this because the market for APS-C SLRs is going to contract. I don't see how they are going to compete in this area since mirrorless cams are less expensive to manufacturer.

I honestly am not enthusiastic for the brand's future. I wish I felt differently. I think it's going to be real tough attracting new users to the system. Forget about all of us - we're gluttons for punishment and will buy almost anything with the Pentax name on it.

It is but... nobody (outside the Pentax community) really cared. They needed this feature with the 16MP cam. At 24MP you're not likely to encounter scenarios in which moiré is a factor.

Pentax battery hand grip

Many of us shoot Pentax to minimize bulk and weight. The grip tends to defeat that purpose.

One thing I don't like is having to remove the grip to change the primary battery.

Having said all of that I wouldn't mind having one for telephoto stuff.

Yep. I made out pretty good. It was a stragr transaction, however.

Pentax comes across as an arrogant company. And I have no idea why. Their reputation in the industry is either unknown or flat out negative.

Worth Taking a Risk on the DA 20-40 Limited?

Comparing it to the 55mm in terms of AF is a pretty low bar. I would have been happy with 18-135 performance in this area.

The 20-40s AF isn't terrible. It just wasn't what you would expect for $999. The competition's newer glass has pretty zippy AF motors.

I really like the 20-40 for $700. My biggest beef is lazy AF. A lot of people would overlook its optical flaws if AF was cutting-edge.

I'm happy to report that my transaction is finally complete. Today I was dinged $1,299.95 which was followed by a $526.53 credit.

Not sure how this would have transpired without this thread and my follow-up. In any event, Godspeed my "Pentax web store sales" friends and don't take shit from anybody.

Got my FREE FA 31mm! Yep, I've got lens in hand and a zero balance on my credit card. I still have a $1,300 pending charge, however.

I figure by this time tomorrow my wife will be asking why I spent $2,600 for a screw-drive lens.

The saga continues... BUT I'VE GOT A LENS!

P.S.: B&H could take a packing lesson from these guys. It was DOUBLE-BOXED in addition to the factory packaging.

Don't wait a couple of days. Call every single day at the same time.

It's unfortunate but there's no other choice with this outfit.
