Hi everyone!
Been away from this hobby and site for many years. Completely thrilled to see this thread I started is still rolling.
I lost the first two girls in the first post of this thread. The third is aging, and taking two different medications to control seizures. But I have a new one too.
I know this post is mainly worthless without pictures. :) I'll have to address that soon.
Post on! :D

If the camera remained square like the 1st gen I'd already have one. It looks like a p&s now. No sale here until Pentax Q goes back to being square.

Count me as a member of the K-3 Limited Silver Edition, from B&H. I don't know their stock in the warehouse but I got either their last or 2nd to last in the store today.

Thanx. Forgot to ask the 1st time. Anyone know how long the Silver's run will be? I'd prefer to wait to pick a K-3 up after the 1st price drop. But if the Silver will be an actual limited quantity, I may have to bite the bullet.

Question to those in the know. Is the grip included in the "up cost" of the Special/Silver Edition?
Thanx,

Were the dogs stuffed? :o What I wanna know is, how did they manage to get two dogs in the fore and back grounds to not move a micron while swapping cameras in the same location? (p.s. ya, I saw the Update 10/27/13)

But you don't hate purple splotchiness? I do. 'Grainy' noise is one thing, but large purple splotches in my photographs kinda makes me mad. :(

Off topic but my 7mm Vivitar fish-eye is around that range and I love it. I'm not constantly ruining every picture by getting my feet in the frame this way. :p

26% larger is something ; better than nothing.
p.s. I hope the body is very square, like the 1st Q. Rounded corners let alone something ordinary and typical compact looking would be a deal breaker.

How 'bout adding ISO80 support?
I miss it for long exposure RAW night shots to which I apply heavy light fill & tone curve boost adjustments to the darks in Lightroom. The results are not as clean even @ ISO100 as they are to photos made at ISO80.

Ack, that's what that line means! I thought that was only setting the range permissible for setting of ISO; it didn't occur to me I could leave the selection on that line. I should have realized what you just described (given that 'Auto' to the left). Silly me. Thanx very much. (I just got the camera today and even said to myself earlier today "I need to read that manual" when I walked back into the kitchen and saw it on the table.)

My wish list, after just a few hours of use w/my newly un-boxed K-01...
1) add 8x and 10x LiveView zoom please
2) I'll echo others that focus peaking would be better with an adaptable sensitivity and different peaking color. And I find it to be pretty much useless using my MF Vivitar 7mm lens even wide open @ f/3.5, negating the main reason I got the K-01. I have not tried it on my 55mm f/1.2 yet but I have hope it will be more useful with that.
3) an "Auto" option in the ISO selector would be much apreciated. That could get operating the K-01 'closer' to my most used mode on the K10D and K-5, TAv mode. After just a few hours I'm surprised at learning I sssooo miss TAv and hate being locked to an ISO and not being able to have it automatically adjusted by the camera.
4) Oh, one more. This may be there and I just have to read the manual to find how; but I sure couldn't find it pressing every button while viewing a zoomed-in photo. The ability to advance forward/back between two pictures that are zoomed in. I got the K10D because it had front & rear dials, and I was so happy the K-5 had it too, and I could always use the front dial to move forward/back between two zoomed in images. I avoided buying a body that doesn't have the two dials, and now that I have I've confirmed that I miss the extra dial. This forward/back featrue of a zoomed picture view is sorely missed in my few hours w/the K-01.

Adorama. Was there last night from the link in the OP. That is No longer avail either. I'm worried now that new mfg supplies are exhausted I may be getting a return from someone Adorama had on the shelf.

Well, I missed out on the cheap yellow one, but I just put in an order for a white one, $299. whew, that was close! (well, I guess I shouldn't be comfortable until it's delivered).

I screwed up. I haven't been visiting FB or PF and did not know these had went the way of the DoeDoe. I wanted one but waited too long and now I've missed out.

HA! May be sharper but if my 8mm fisheye is a example of what's to expect, I doubt it. Though that lens has hardly left my K-5 since I got it over a 1/2 year ago, I can't use any in camera JPGs produced from it given the massive CA adjustment required to make the image object edge detail clear of lateral CAs anywhere off center.

Ah, I thought you were pulling my leg about my typo.
I'll let the multitudes of resources on this board and out on the 'net explain hyperfocal as they can do it better than me. Regarding applying it to our lens, what I read on this forum and found to generally be the case myself w/my Vivitar branded version of the Samyang manufactured lens is it will be focused adequately @ f/5.6 or f/8 to infinity when you have the lens marking from 0.7m - 1.5m.
Now while 'hypperfocal focus' technique is sufficient for the criteria that defines 'hyperfocal', which is a form of focus that's inexact but good enough in relation to the resolution expected when one prints at a particular size, that's not always going to give the 'best' focus of the subjects you want optimized in your frame using that Samyang lens. For that, I use the LiveView technique mentioned previously.
