Do I really need an Eyecup?

If you wear glasses, having one is a good idea. I had no eyecup on my camera for the better part of a year, and scraped the anti-reflective coating off my right eyeglass-lens. Otherwise? Nice to have, but not essential.

I'm sorry.

You just can't say stuff like that, the temptation becomes too strong.

I know. I do have the slight advantage of playing several other musical instruments, primarily clarinet, but still, it's different. I actually do have a practice chanter, but it's a cheap one without countersunk holes, which makes it about as easy to play as a piece of kindling.

I have nothing against bagpipes. In fact, i think that the great highland pipes may be the greatest invention ever-- weaponized music. Honestly, it's a dream of mine to learn to play bagpipes.

Thanks, everyone, for the praise! I certainly feel like i've worked hard to get as good at this concert photography thing, but I still have a bad tendency to miss shots like this, stage dives, confetti, whatnot. Either that i'm focused on something else (or my camera is), or that i just have the totally wrong lens in the wrong place at the wrong time.

From the warm-up of the concert we hosted on saturday. It was a one-time reunion of a band that broke up about 10 years ago, and man, it was a night.
This is by far my favourite shot, but feel free to check out the rest of the images, I'm really proud of the work that i did: The modern times + the fernets | Flickr

I'm confused. What does this have to do with using a logical system of measurement? I mean, hex and binary have their uses, but baker's dozens are still more baffling to me than literal rocket science. Who invented the baker's dozen. and WHY?

Using UV filters for lens protection.

Basically, yeah. They're just another piece of glass to get dirty and scratched. If you're really worried about breaking your front elements, get good about using hoods. They do a great job at breaking falls, and it's far cheaper to repair a cracked piece of plastic than it is to replace a uv filter or (god forbid) lens element.

A few shots from this weekend's concerts. The first band was an incredibly entertaining Norwegian folk rock band with one of the most impressive instrument lineups i've ever seen, and the second was sāpmi rap artist. Lots of fun!

Not quite true. My dog once licked some nettles, spent the rest of the day with a swollen red tongue hanging out of his mouth. Also a pretty funny sight to see. At least after the vet explained what had happened. Before that it was a little scary.

On a family hike when i was maybe five or six, my sister (four years older) went to relieve herself, and unknowingly squatted over a wasp nest. That was a sight to see...

Let me rephrase: i'd recommend living on a student food budget and not getting scurvy.

As an answer to your question: depends how many calories you burn on wild shenanigans as a result of beer consumption.
