Good Black and White. I often switch to B&W at high ISO when the grain gets to be a problem with the colours. Excellent trick, often with good results.

Designosophy
Good picture, especially your father in law's face and the ways the shadows fall.
It is amazing what you can do with the old SMC lenses.
I was using my full manual 50 mm f2.0 from my 30 year old K1000 as part of my bag for about a year after i bought my K20D until I bought an autofocus Pentax FA-50 mm f1.4.

I took this about year ago with my ancient manual 50 mm f2.0 1/10 sec ISO 3200 (The lens originally came with my K1000 30 years ago) It was taken at a 1st birthday party and the only source of light was the candle. I was still new to the K20D and was trying to see what I could do.
First picture is as taken.
The second is Black and White with some cropping and processing.
