Thanks for the information. Just a quirky thing; A sense of satisfaction (for want of better term) when a shot requires no PP whatsoever - it was caught right in glass.

Your shutter speed need not be faster than 1/60 or 1/125 depending on zoom (handheld), shooting mode can go to continuos to skip blinks and and any other movements. By moving your shutter speed slower you can maybe gain aperture to ideal of f8 or f11 for sharpness unless, of course, you need to go wider/softer to isolate (via DOF).

Don't know if the lens profile information carries transmittance (though it would be great to see it in this forum's Pentax Lens Reviews) to the camera body though the in-body metering, at a guess, is based on the light sensed irrespective of classic or modern lens eras. Where it may need compensating for is situations when external metering is used, for example, when zoning.

Can't give you any exact figures on my limited time with the new acquisitions but with a few walkabouts, gps and grip on, am not seeing lithium battery fall below 50%. The price of a few (non-Pentax) lithiums may not be prohibitive. Only real drain have noticed is with Flucard.

From film camera days, before image stabilisation, the rule of thumb was to avoid (unless practised, stabilised and confident) a shutter speed less than the focal length of the lens. Considering Pentax shake reduction and the crop factor; am going to suggest that is still a good guide to begin with. Then again, that only covers camera shake. The fact that your subjects are moving means you can either pan (move the lens, using yourself or a support as a pivot point) with the subject[s] or use flash to 'freeze' the moment. These are just pointers; am sure many here can help for you further, though reading and practising may not be avoidable. The good news? Far less expensive practising in the digital era.

Indeed it is Adam. Murfy - you saved me from further frustration; now works, as you say, fine, on my Nook HD.

Thanks again Gents.

Thanks, JohnX.

Could be, as you have suggested, a problem with the Nook being 'too geared' as an eReader I guess so am now drifting to the notion of following your lead to success by seeking a Samsung Tab 2.

Yes, the comms seems fine. Can get image view and camera (K-3 II) settings fine. Only, but crucial, fail seems to be the liveview; Can tap the black area and the camera will focus on that (blind shot) area and shoot. Tried knocking down the LV screen resolution but no different.

Hi All,

Well, seems am another disappointed Flucard owner. Have tried it with my Nook HD, Windows 8.1 Phone and Windows 10 laptop.
Most compatible seemed to be the Nook but no liveview in either Chrome or Firefox. Tried the Flucard firmware upgrade but made no difference.
Unless anyone can tell me how they got the Flucard to work on the Nook, the question now is which inexpensive Android tablet should I buy that obviously is compatible with the Pentax Flucard?

Thanks in advance

Yep, also get worried about accidentally ruining lenses but haven't gone the UV route, have been fitting the Marumi DHG Super Lens Protect filters instead.

Binocular: Pentax SD 8x42 WP. Any experience?

Hi Folks,

Long time since have been active but have very recently purchased, and been delighted with, a K-3 II. So, becoming active again and now seeking to acquire my first ever binocular to accompany walkabouts. Quite like the look of the Pentax SD 8x42 WP. Unfortunately, no local stockists so was about to order online, then wondered if anyone here had tried them and perhaps had something good or bad to say about them. As I have no experience of any binoculars any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

why is a full frame Pentax such a holy grail?

Maybe am missing the point here but,,,
Have found that an MZ-50 loaded with a roll of film adds little weight or space to the kit carried but gives the option of shooting FF in those few instances where have thought the shot would benefit and/or be worthwhile committing to print (having first considered it on the LCD of course). Just my two-pennies as it seems to suffice if and until Pentax does release an FF and get my commitment to acquire - likely if the cost is justifiable.
For the infrequency, have found the cost of film and processing not to be prohibitive.

Ask them what image size and DPI they want, Size your images to that.
From there you will need to negotiate (if necessary) with them the jpeg quality that does not cross the 2MB threshold.
Just giving you a spec of 2MB seems a little scant of specification IMHO.

Filter Wallet. The sleeved fold-out flat type. Lightweight and saves space.

Edit:
Forgot to mention the super-cheap lens-cap-keepers (the elasticated type that goes around the lens with a thread that sticks to the front of the lens-cap). Suggest you buy them a handful at a time, as the postage is more expensive than the item.

if you need optimum transfers, the drive[s] handling the swap/scratch should hang off an additional controller.

So get the screen calibaration first, that will make the biggest difference on what you already have (unless you are of the great fortune to have correctly calibrated screen that never fluctuates).

Have nothing to add other than it sounds like you've got it covered already - other than having preview/selection options, which freeware may provide.
