Samuel Barber was an American composer perhaps best known for his Adagio, which is truly lovely. I've recently discovered his Toccata Festiva, a wonderful work for pipe organ and orchestra. Try it, you might like it!

I still would like to know why, other than the first Pentax DSLR, TTL flash is not possible. It would seem that since TTL works so well with film why isn't it feasible with digital sensors? Does anyone have a good explanation? My LX was and is a joy to use with my AFT400 handle flash, I wish that I could enjoy TTL with my K5 or K1.

Now listening to: Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 / Vasily Petrenko / Oslo Philharmonic A truly excellent performance of this wonderful late Romantic symphony.
Also try Anna Fedorova's wonderful performance of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto. Do your ears a favor with either of these superlative pieces.

I've had excellent results with the Pentax AF400t and my Pentax LX. This is a big "potato masher" flash, capable of blistering paint at 30 feet! Well, not really, but it is very powerful. See the review here: PENTAX AF 400T reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database You will see my comments on the flash in the review. Do know that the "integral" battery holder consumes AA cells at an alarming rate; the auxiliary battery pack using C cells is a worthy purchase. Of course a bracket attaching to the camera's tripod socket is a must, no camera hot shoe could survive this massive flash. Wide and tele diffuser/lenses are available if you can find them. I need to find the proper connecting cord to interface with my 645n.

Gorgeous! I imagine that BLACK Spotmatic Fs are really rare. I have a F in the usual chrome, plus the standard trio of lenses. Spotmatics of any sort are lovely cameras, but the Fs are enhanced by full aperture exposure setting. Stop down metering is a kludge; my ancient Praktica LTL has the only ergonomic stopdown system I've ever encountered.

Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor with images from the Hubble space telescope...Truly magnificent as played on a wonderful tracker pipe organ by, IIRC, Ton Koopman.
It's on YouTube. Try it on a decent audio system at a LOUD volume.

I have a 645n. A marvelous machine. As far as lenses, the 75mm normal is excellent. I also own the 80 to 160mm zoom, the 200mm tele, the 120mm macro, the 55mm wide angle, and the 35mm wide angle. Comments: the 35mm is excellent. Sharp, even coverage and virtually invisible distortion. The 55mm is good. The 75mm is all one could wish for in a normal lens, although more speed would be nice. The 120mm macro goes from infinity to 1 to 1 without added tubes, etc. It also makes a rather good portrait lens. The 200mm is good. The 80 to 160 zoom is very good, but heavy. Good for portraits.
Do consider using a sturdy tripod and a cable release to fully realize the potential of medium format for landscapes and the like.

Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, performed by The BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Davis. What makes this performance special is that is it is in the Gloucester Cathedral where it was first performed in 1910 conducted by Vaughan Williams. Find it and play it LOUD if you have good speakers. The performance is wonderful, and the acoustics of that ancient building are breathtaking. No amplification in this recording!!

Good choice! Back in the day I heard the Quartet at my college, the University of Richmond in Virginia. I was seated perhaps 25 feet or so from the group, and got some wonderful atmospheric photos - available light - during the concert.

A Leica IIIf with strap and body cap. The camera is in excellent condition, and will use the lenses from my Canon P. Now to find an auxiliary VF so I can use the P's 35 and 100mm lenses in addition to the P's 50mm which is mounted on the Leica now.

Just now I was listening to Sibelius' Fifth Symphony on YouTube. At about 8 minutes into the first movement an obnoxious ad broke in. While I can appreciate the need for ad revenue, why can't ads be shown between works of music, or at the least between movements?
Any one know how to "force" such spacing of ads?

I've used Wasabi batteries for years in my K10d, and my K5 with no problems. Of course, YMMV, but I have no problem recommending Wasabi lithium ion batteries.

First, Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2, Oslo Philharmonic/ Vasily Petrenko, to be followed by Ralph Vaughan-Williams Five Variations on Dives and Lazarus/ The Orchestra of the Swan.
Then RVW's Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, BBC Symphony Orchestra/ Andrew Davis. The Tallis is performed in Gloucester Cathedral, the venue intended for it by Vaughan Williams, when it was first performed in 1910. The acoustics and videography of this recording are spectacular! Play it loud over good gear, and enjoy. It is certain to soothe the soul.
