Yea, I saw that too at the time and wasn't 100% sure if I liked the new one or not.
Thanks for your thoughts, I'll fix it when I get home :)

I see this all the time at work...applications not loading randomly, could be any number of issues.
I highly doubt you have any hardware issue. If it was hard drive, you'd more than likely hear a distinct clicking noise of the head trying to move back and forth to read the data. Memory would also cause more random issues, including actual windows startup issues.
You'll likely find it's an actual software issue, which you've kind of thought it yourself.
Chances are, you might even have a virus.
A couple of quick questions that could help narrow the issue down.
- What OS are you running? Also - is it legit? I don't care if it's not...but if it isn't - this could cause some problems that are normally fixed with updates that you won't receive.
- What hardware do you have (how much memory, hard drive space)?

Another revelation from the dry winters we've had in Perth. The foundation of an old, long forgotten bridge. |

This basketball ring is in my driveway. It is unused and I've been meaning to rip it out, and donate it to the kids accross the road. Somehow my camera always gets in the way :) Attachment 97713 |

This is a part of a "tap tree" out at a National Park north of Perth.
I've had the photo for a while, but only just got the idea on how to edit it today. Attachment 97712 |

Well, I took your advice and modified the shot.
Removed the lights in the background, and straightened the horizen.
The crop is 12x30", which I've kept. Let me know what you think of the new version. Attachment 97710 |

Thanks for the feedback.
I've taken what was suggested, and made the changes.
I've cropped the original image back to take the log off center, I've also straightened a bit.
I found some other shots of the same log from that day too - let me know what you think.
Original retouched. Attachment 97707 Attachment 97708 Attachment 97709 |

Thanks for your feedback NewportPreacher.
I've taken your advice, and also played with the colours a bit.
Here's the new version. |

Personally for me, it's a bit dull.
The idea is a fantastic one, but I believe the whole photo would improve if the moon light was brighter, and as ryant has already mentioned - the soft yellow is slightly distracting - it's what I first looked at when the photo loaded.
Additionally, it could just be because I can't see clearly, but it looks slightly tilted.

Hey all,
I'm not "new" to the pentax forums, but I've only just found this section (didn't really look for it to be honest).
A quick bit about me...I live in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia.
I shoot with a K-x and have a Tamron 28-75mm lens currently. Looking at upgrading to a K5 as soon as possible, and also getting a long range lens. Had the pentax 55-300, but sold it to get the Tammy.
I run my own photography company with fellow Pentaxian, Werticus, called Sixth Sense Photography.
I work in IT when I'm not taking photos.
Looking forward to the next meet in WA, to tag along. Unfortunately couldn't make the RAAF meet this weekend just gone by.

Agreed on the tilt look. I'd use the platform to use as a "spirit level"

My nephews 3rd birthday was combined with an easter egg hunt for his friends.
When I saw this shot through my view finder, I knew exactly how I wanted it to come out, and that's what you see below. Let me know what you think :) Attachment 89905 |

I've seen a few of the others shots from around the world, but didn't see one go up from my neck of the woods.
I live next to the ocean, and it was quite windy last night at 11pm. Had the tripod out, but still got a small amount of blur. Let me know what you think. Attachment 86531 |

Thanks sweetpapa.
I'm planning on getting it printed up on canvas and give it to my brother (on the right) as a present for his family. Just have to find the right price :)

Thanks Bob. The original photo was technically good, but there was nothing to draw the eye. So I played with split toning and contrast settings and managed to get this.
Cropped it down to get rid of the guff. I don't know why, but it's one of my favourite photos at the moment.
Thanks for looking :)
