And to make things even more complicated, you can use RawTherapee to get a frame size of 6216x4152 pixels instead of the nominal 6192x4128 pixels, with a different crop factor again that I am too incompetent to calculate. Apparently there is an unused border zone (a border value that can be set in RawTherapee) to accommodate the sensor movements in SR and so on.

Based on the resolution of the K 3 iii (6192x4128) the aspect ratio is exactly 3:2 if the pixels are square so in case at least it is identical to full frame.

So, Ricoh has decided to try to cash in on he cult of Limiteds. It was bound to happen.
But seriously, it's a needed focal length that is like a banana.
It has a lot of appeal.
I'll buy it, but then, Pentax could put their name on a wet turd, and I would buy it.
Seriously, well, not really, I just finished a bottle of wine and I'm quite drunk, I am really looking forward to this lens. It is the Limited lenses brought forward to the 21st century, and I bet it will be a dandy lens.
I'm a little confused regarding talking about bokeh on an ultra-wide, it implies a very fast aperture, but the lens they showed looks like it will be somewhere in the f2.4 range. Hardly a bokeh monster considering it's focal length.
I bet it's going to be a kickass lens.
Pentax, I'll just send you m credit card number on this one.
This incoherent post is compliments of Campo Viejo Rioja, circa 2014.
I love you all, and you are all invited to Wheatfield's house next Thursday for smoked Brisket and alcohol.
Especially that cute little engineer in the bottom left corner.
Dear God, I'm embarrassing myself. At least I'm a happy drunk.
Hugs and kisses to everyone. Stay safe, and if you have to drink, do it in the safety of your home. Don't go out to a crowded bar.

So I did my best to reprocess the old data with new sotware and more "experience". The stars are more and the field is deeper. But I am not sure if the DSOs are really better now. Orion-Region by pete_xl, auf Flickr

Fear is irrational, diffraction is fact. Small-sensor cameras can be excellent macro tools (I've gone up to 2.5:1 on my Q), but there's no getting around the loss of resolution brought on by diffraction.

A telecentric lens would help.
In a normal, non-telecentric lens, the rays of light from the subject converge to a point (called the front nodal point) that is typically fairly close to the middle-front of the lens. That means that as you change the distance to the subject to shift the plane of focus, objects at other distances change size. Things that are getting closer to the lens grow larger in the image. Similarly, foreground objects look bigger than background objects even if they are the same size -- the lens shows perspective.
With telecentric optics, the rays of light from the subject run parallel into the lens. The front nodal point is behind the lens at negative infinity. Objects don't change visual size as the stack plane moves. Background objects and foreground objects of the same size have the same size in the image, too.

Kind of... CR Kennedy in Australia just recently put an order in for K Mount Lensbabies that arrived in this month. I have also bought a K Mount Twist60 direct from lensbaby in K mount produced at no additional cost (this is the first Twist 60 for K Mount ever made :D). I have it on good authority that if you just approach Lensbaby and request them to make one of their lenses in K Mount then they will do it for no additional cost. That's cool, basically they are still supporting on request only (because if they do batches not enough people buy). I can understand why, I love lensbaby, own 4 of their products and regularly post images that I think are fairly high quality to these forums, but really... there's like a handful of us using them. Quite simply Pentaxians are purists and think rubbing vaseline on the front element of normal lenses is as good LOL! Whatever...
