Hello,
I entered an amateur photo competition on the "World Transplant Games Federation" Facebook page. The objective is to highlight captured moments powered by the gift of life. The theme for January is sunrise/sunsets. The photo with the most likes takes the win and a World Transplant Games hoodie.
I'm a childhood cancer survivor and had a life saving heart transplant 15 years ago and entered my photo. The competition finishes tonight 10th Feb. Out of the 30+ entries, no-one else in the race has over 10 likes, so its a very close two horse race between me (Australia) 116 votes and Peru 117 votes at time of posting.
I would love to beat this guy in Peru and take it out. Not too fussed about the hoodie, it's now just my competitive streak!!
(I entered a happy snap off of my GoPro rather than my Pentax K5 DSLR as I thought that the photo should have the transplant recipient in the photo given the objective of the competition to highlight captured moments powered by the gift of life).
Here's where you come in. Would love a few more votes if you have a few seconds to spare. Feel free to like and vote for anyone else to be fair to the competition. However, my entry is outlined below if you think my entry is worthy of the win. Bryan Williams's Photos
OR
1. Search for "World Transplant Games Federation" FB page on FB. They have pinned the photo competition at the top of their page.
2. In the comments under the photo competition, find my photo (as per the link above in the original post) and you should see a like button there.
Thanks in advance :)

What speed card maximises the K3's faster read and write times?

Isn't that Pete the 'Gadget Guy' who usually appears on the Channel 7 Sunrise programme reviewing new technology.

As an aside, Clem from CR Kennedy emailed me to say they were uploading the BG-5 to their website today. I asked the price - $249.
Still no sign of it on their website though.

Just pre-ordered the K3 from Leederville Cameras in Perth. It's not yet up on their website but will be tomorrow I was told. Paid 20% deposit over the phone. Told it would be in in the first week or so of November - here's hoping!

A few questions implementing this on a K30 please.
If you are using the four select buttons to chose the metering point how can you change the ISO setting (or white balance, flash etc)?
AF button customized no problems but can't see where to tun off the half shutter focus? Thanks

K30. Have been very tempted to pull the trigger on a K5iis during my wait for a new K3. If the rumored specs prove to be correct I will take the leap.

Thanks Doundounba.
In response to a PM I received I took some test shots at a local park with the Sigma 17-70mm.
I took photos at 17mm, 40mm and 70mm each at three apertures of wide open, f5.6 and f13.
I just took them in jpg and uploaded unprocessed directly into a Flickr set. Here is the link: Sigma 17-70 test - a set on Flickr
I hope this helps.

Thanks, but I'm already one step ahead of you. I already have the 3-pin adapter and have packed a 4-socket multiboard to charge up all of my gear....

Thankyou for sharing your link. What a fantastic event and some great shots there with your 55-300.
I have the beanbag ready to go so good to see that you found it useful. I'll have a tripod and monopod with me as well.
What body did you have the 55-300 on?
Did you find the speed of the 55-300 restrictive in low light or was the lighting OK? I've read that the light soon after sunrise and just before sunset is still very good.

Thanks. I'm feeling pretty comfortable now with my selection and looking forward to it.
I will definitely put together a write up when I get back with photos so that others like yourself can see what worked well and what didn't based on my experiences.
