You all know this superstar of our forum, in his discussions he's firmly data driven, but remains a perfect gentleman throughout.

Can't really see the negative impact that limited parts should have on the brand. It's extras! Nothing more - nothing less.
But I suspect that constant negativity actually has negative impact.

We are getting close to the end of 2022. I have seen lots of folks coming out with their end of year lists -- best movies of 2022, best books of 2022 and so on.
The goal of this thread is to display your favorite images that you captured in the last year. There is not a specific number -- I'll probably do ten images in total. The best thing is to limit each post to five images or so, to keep folks with slower internet speeds from having the thread grind to a halt.
I hope that everyone feels comfortable posting here -- this isn't a competition, but simply a little time of retrospective to think about the past year and the photographic journey we are on, separately and together. I'm looking forward to seeing the images that you all have to share.
Without further ado, here are my first five images...
Tiny Barn at Sunrise (DFA 24-70mm/pixel shift) Tiny Barn at Sunrise by Vincent1825, on Flickr

I've been using the D FA 21mm f2.4 Limited with the K-1 ii to capture spring in my neighborhood.
A few are cropped, a couple are focus stacked, and several I used off-camera flash with a cheap diffuser. |

Despite their sombre, melancholic songwriting, I always found The Smiths to be a rather enjoyable band. I've been looking through their excellent back-catalogue, and a startling number of the songs could have been written with you and your thoughts on Pentax in mind!
"The Boy with the Thorn in His Side"
"Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now"
"I Know It's Over"
"I Want the One I Can't Have"
"Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want"
"Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" (regarding your negative posts... and yes - please stop)
"That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" (as above... and frankly, it never was)
"There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" (Pentax)
"These Things Take Time" (you'll get your K-1III eventually)
"What Difference Does It Make" (your negativity and the K-1III's release date)
"You've Got Everything Now" (just look at your lens arsenal !!) [I chose to exclude "Bigmouth Strikes Again", as that would have been unnecessarily harsh ;)]
Perhaps you should express your on-going Pentax negativity through the medium of song... you know, give Morrissey a run for his money? You could turn all that emotion into something fellow members might value and enjoy... :D You Tube |

If your shoot apsc and have a telephoto bent in life this is the real deal. Works very well with my DA* 50-135, DA* 60-250, DA* 200, and FA* 300 on both my K-3 and KP.

I've always enjoyed images from the 17, with fov nearly as wide as the 14mm on aps.c bodies. If I didn't have the 17-28 I'd be chasing this!

Having recently used one I can honestly say I like this lens. The 60-250 and this lens are very competitive but the pluses on this one seem to be:
Better (faster) AF
Internal Zoom
Lighter Weight
Smaller Hood
Full frame out of the box
There are certainly reasons to look at this or the 60-250 depending on your needs but don't overlook this lens without considering why one fits better than the other.

It seems we need a thread dedicated to the new Pentax-D FA 21 f/2.4 Limited lens. The lens has made a very strong first impression here on PF. Show us what it can do.
I have only been out with it a few times so far, but let me start the ball rolling with some assorted images. |

I had a bit of fun with this lens in December with my Whisky Club advent calendar. At close focus and wide open its rendering is really nice. |

Right, so I guess I'm not summing up my month with the HD DA 21 mm f/3.2 limited as much as I should be summing up my year with it.
A word: awesome.
More words...
It might seem surprising, but I never felt it a problem to have this one lens (save for a few instances of birding) attached for an entire year. The focal length is excellent on APS-C; wide enough to get a good view of the environment, but not super-wide and distorty (though I admit it's not really an architectural lens). It focuses close enough (I could always be happy with closer...) that you can grab a subject and make it pop.
There is something really nice about the way it renders a scene. Wide-open (thanks Sandy for the spur) is magic, and with shutter speed kept up, it can still be absolutely as sharp as you need. Stopped down it's at least as sharp as, if not sharper than, any of my lenses other than the eye-razor that is the Sigma 30/1.4 (likewise stopped down). Colours are lovely, and overall it often gives a 'feel' that I really like; something that seems to me a bit filmic/old school/nostalgic.
I've just gone through the albums and selected one from each month.
January; I like the sharp detail in the crochet, and simply the picture itself. It also gave me a taste for the view of the 21: Crochet Bike by -Occasionally Focused-
February; I had to include a sunrise and That Tree, as rendered (beautifully) by the 21: To Flickr-25 by -Occasionally Focused-
March; it rained, it rained a helluva lot. This is therefore a documentary shot, but also shows how nice;y the 21 - and I think Pentax in general - shows water: Much water by -Occasionally Focused-
April; as I note above, you can get close - this is a crop, but it started quite close: Busy bee by -Occasionally Focused-
May; a bit motion-blurred I think, but I love this of the boy: Growing and grinning by -Occasionally Focused-
June; the 21 showed these orchids well, with some mad, but I think still pleasant, bokeh behind: In the garden by -Occasionally Focused-
July; this I love simply for the terrible pun: Yazz by -Occasionally Focused-
August; I like that it's our Wollemi pine, and also I like the sharp detail, and I think my composition (getting close again): Wollemi by -Occasionally Focused-
September; I love wisteria, and I love bees, so I'm very pleased with this: Wisteria and bee by -Occasionally Focused-
October; I couldn't not have a karate-related image in a year summary - here's good sharp detail in the frayed obi despite being awkwardly hand-held: Kurobi by -Occasionally Focused-
November; this turned out to be one of my favourite photos of Sullivan: Sleepy Sully by -Occasionally Focused-
December; this was quite an intentional photograph, and made use of getting close, having the lens wide-open, exposure compensation, flippy screen...: Under the fuchsia by -Occasionally Focused-
So, my recommendation after all that, is that you should definitely have a copy of this lens. Small, light, handles beautifully, basically just gets out of the way and allows you to take the best photos you can.
The DA 50/1.8 plastic fantastic is now on my KP, as I only used it for a month before mrs tsuken gave me the DA 21. Such a different field of view and depth of focus!
On to January...

You're probably the third person who buy one because everyone else hopes to win a dfa 21 ltd at the lottery :)
Nice picture btw. Thanks for sharing.

I did the same with our distributor in Oz, I only saw the Pentax puff pieces in the media but with their recent history of delivering quality lenses, I just had to pull the trigger. I hope yours arrives soon :) ---------- Post added 11-29-21 at 08:16 PM ----------
I love the out of focus highlights, enjoy the new lens, I can just see it fly in your hands with the delicate handling of close up blooms :)

If giving the HD PENTAX-DFA 1:2.4 21mm ED Limited DC WR a "Single In" workout can't get me out of my current photographic malaise, I suspect nothing can.
So I'm in. I have a few lenses which cover a similar field of view on either full frame or crop, so expect to see the odd comparison shot.
