Here is Rigel and the Witch Head Nebula taken with my astro modded K5 through a Samyang 135 f/2 stopped down to f/2.8, with a total of 48x 5 minute exposures at ISO 800 giving me a total of 4 hours of integration on this. Stacked in Astro Pixel Processor and finished in Photoshop.

Here is the Running Man Nebula taken with my K3, 26x 5 minute exposures at ISO 800 through an Orion 10RC and Starizona ApexL reducer on an iOptron CEM60. I stacked it in Astro Pixel Processor and finished it off in Photoshop. I would have had 3x this amount of exposures but I didn't check for dew and so lost autoguiding one night.

This was straight out of the camera, and it hasn't been modified at all so doesn't pick up the Sii or Ha portions of it like you see on these images, and no filters were used at all. On my Astrobin Scotty Bishop's gallery - AstroBin you can definitely tell what let that Ha through! You will even be able to spot some from the astro modded K5 in there.
Thank you! I enjoy getting the dark dust. It is a challenge, but worth it.
Thanks for the kind words! And yes, there are so many things out there that will surprise you with their variety. It is amazing what is also possible with a normal DSLR camera.

Get the gear, just don't tell Mrs. Racer what it cost! You can automate a lot of it too.

The mono version with filters could be awesome for astro. The astro one would be too.

Thanks! This was on an iOptron CEM25EC and using an MGEN II and Astromania 50mm guidescope for guiding, dithering, and shutter control. It was 54x 300 second exposures.

Here are a few K1ii pictures from a dark site in November. All were stacks of 300s exposures. All were using a WO Redcat.

Been a while. I've been stuck in astrophotography land! I was looking for replacement cables for some of my astronomy cables and I think a review by Racer may have saved me from getting one brand of them!
Ohh, and where I live is a frozen hell.

Make the DFA 24-105 f/4 into a DFA 24-135 f/4 and I'll buy it. Also, 600mm... my wallet says no but my mind says yes (depending on price)

lol, I don't think those would do too well for astro and probably couldn't be hooked up to a telescope

Here's some of my stuff with the K1ii
And finally, something that was more of an experiment than anything and is ridiculously overprocessed,
I also have stuff on there from the K1 mk 1, K3, K5, and K-01 too for Pentax stuff.
As far as what you were looking at, get the mount with the highest capacity you can, so the EQ6R (though the iOptron GEM28 would be a good one if you wanted a light mount that is easier to handle) and the Redcat. I also have a Redcat and have gotten great images with it.

I like to snap pics with my phone, but they are nothing when compared to my DSLRs. Still, the best camera to have is the one you have on you.
