turns out I missed using winetricks to change it back into winxp mode. It ran a bit better in vista mode but the file dialog now works.

You can use exiftool to rename the camera model number in the exif data to a K5 and then aftershot pro works just fine. Though I have been playing with lightroom because I am tired of doing that every time.

Hey this is awesome thanks. I got things mostly working using your instructions as well as the instructions provided WineOn64bit - The Official Wine Wiki the only thing not working are the file and directory dialogs. I can browse through the files in the dialog but cannot actually select anything. But working from the sd card works just fine.

Trying to set the fine adjustment for different lenses and failing

These are older lenses (screw drive 6ish years old) so perhaps they were not worried about uniquely identifying them

Well that will be a bit inconvienient for me, at least the lens isnt badly front focusing but shifting that way

Didnt help, but thanks for the suggestion :)

Right now I am working on 2 lenses on the K-5 IIs
Sigma 18-50 f2.8
Sigma 50-500

The sigma 18-50 is almost bang on the 50-500 front focuses a bit. I set the adjustment to "Apply One" but when I switch lenses whatever adjustment is still in effect. The manual says saves adjustment value for each lens type. Does this mean they are the same lens type therefore cannot have different adjustments?

I am thinking of upgrading my K20D to a K5 of K5II and have a question regarding AF

I know everyone has been waiting with baited breath, sitting on the edge of their seats. After some thought I put my K20D on ebay rather then keeping it as I originally planned. This gave me a few hundred more spending money which in turn made me say what the heck and I now have a K5 IIs inbound.

I was shocked that my K20D maintained nearly 50% of its original purchase price after 4 years. I will miss my K20D it was a good friend :)

I think I have heard of him, if he is the guy I am thinking of. I was originally working towards being a geotech until I ended up taking a turn and becoming a structural engineer. The community is small for both those occupations in this area.

What makes me like the IIs is I am beginning to get hooked on shooting stars, if the IIs has a little more resolution it could be nice. I wont be buying anything until my tax return comes in, which wont be for a while as I dont have everything I need to file yet. So maybe prices will shift by then

Holy cow a pentax person in my area, I about fell out of my chair when I saw Nelson BC

I think I might have to wait and see what my tax return is before making the final decision as well as talk to my wife about it but it seems there is a lot pointing to the K5II (I would love the IIs but the extra hundred on top of the extra 3 or 4 hundred would break the camels back)

I have lenses I want but it will be a while before I actually acquire them. I want something a bit wider (10mm range) as well as a 100mm Macro. There were a couple K5II and Sigma 50-500 shots in the sample photos. Looks like the combo plays nice. I was shocked you knew about my lenses until I remembered it is in my profile.

Thank you that gives me a point of reference, I will also have a good read through the article

That is a good point of note. The chart on the page Adam linked to does show a good improvement in focus speed of the K5II over the K5. I keep reading about focus issues of the K5 with fine adjustment of the lenses as well. I have to assess whether this is wide spread. Unfortunately I havent been keeping up on the literature online like I used to

In the reviews I have been reading I am seeing it say that the K5II AF works to -3EV but I am unsure what what that means in real world lighting. For example under a thick forest canopy on a sunny day where would that fall on the EV scale?

I am almost positive I am going for the K5 over the K5II mainly I am tryng to figure out if the improved AF is worth it.

Help fix bicycle seat slippage

Putting in new grooves would work but for it to work you need make the grooves match on both sides or they wont have any effect.

A second option is to take some rubber cut it into a rectangular shape to match the shape of the top of your post, punch a hold through it and put it in between. It might provide enough grip to keep it from slipping. Maybe.

It isnt that I thought they should show it out of the goodness of their hearts but most of the commercials shown are for things like Gillete Razors and other things available in both countries. Actually often the commercials are the same cross border.

I guess it must be Canadian budget and US budget

Hulu is blocked in Canada for copyright reasons. A lot of things are blocked across the border. For instance if you are in Canada and watch something off the Comedy Central website it is blocked, and you have to watch it off the Comedy Network (the Canadian version) And it goes both ways the Canadian websites are blocked to the US. I dont fully understand the reasons other then they say it is copyright.

But that doesnt stop someone from going to a torrent website and downloading the show, many shows are ready for download within hours of it airing sometimes minutes.

Family life has put me on a bit of a hiatus for the past several months, but on the same hand I dont think it overly interferes. My wife can generally handle me taking of a few hours here and there just as I handle her taking off a few hours here and there to do her stuff.

It is important to have separate hobbies I think, then again I am now picturing her carrying all my gear for me lol

at 5'6" I was at the best shape of my life at 150 pounds. I was running up and down 100% slopes all day. I was in awesome shape and not fat but BMI wise I would have been nearly over weight. I dont think the BMI scale is a perfect indicator.

I am willing to join in, though I need a bit more light at the end of the day or morning before I hop on my bike. 4:30-7:00 is the main time I get with my kids daily.

The Master Plan ....

5 years from now my wife is planning on going back to work. In a few years she is going to start studying library technology then she is going to go for a job in a library somewhere. I hope this works for her as it is what she want s to do :)

So in 5 years once my wife decides to stop being lazy and work for a living since she stays home and plays with the kids all the time it will give us a bit more budget to pay down the mortgage and student loans.

I am kidding about the lazy thing before I am drawn and quartered lol.
