How does this go? there are a bunch of budget hanimex/ hanimar generics that are unlabelled but in the list - take too long to sort out which is which. The Olympus Shumar in the list is missing in the back of a cupboard somewhere!.

Shades of Margaret Mahy...
Down the back of the chair
Our car is slow to start and go. We can’t afford a new one.
Now if you please, Dad’s lost the keys. We’re facing rack and ruin.
No car, no work! No work no pay!
We’re getting poorer day by day.
No wonder Dad is turning grey.
The morning is a blue one.
Nothing but dockets in his pockets.
Raging with despair
Dad acts appalled! Though nearly bald
He tries to tear his hair.
But Mary who is barely two
Said "Dad should do what I would do
I lose a lot, but I find a few
Down the back of the chair."
He’s patted himself, and searched the shelf. He’s hunted here and there,
So now he’ll kneel and try to feel right down the back of the chair.
Oh it seemed to grin as his hand went in.
He felt a tingling in his skin.
What will a troubled father win
From down the back of the chair?
Some hairy string and a diamond ring
Were down the back of the chair,
Pineapple peel and a conger eel
Were down the back of the chair
A sip, a sup, a sop, a song. A spider seven inches long,
No wonder that it smells so strong
Down the back of the chair.
A packet of pins and one of the twins
Down the back of the chair.
A pan, a fan that belonged to Gran
Down the back of the chair …
A crumb, a comb, a clown, a cap
A pirate with a treasure map,
A dragon trying to take a nap
Down the back of the chair.
A cake, a drake, a smiling snake,
Down the back of the chair
A string of pearls, a lion with curls
Down the back of the chair
A skink, a skunk, a skate, a ski,
A couple of elephants drinking tea The Olympus Shumar oh golly gee,
Down the back of the chair.
But what is this? Oh bliss! Oh bliss!
(Down the back of the chair).
The long lost will of Uncle Bill
(Down the back of the chair).
His money box all crammed with cash
Tangled up in a scarlet sash
There’s pleasure, treasure, toys and trash
Down the back of the chair.
"I've found my dreams," our father beams.
(Down the back of the chair).
"At last I see how life can be.
(Down the back of the chair).
Forget the keys! We're poor no more
Just call a taxi to the door."
A taxi shot out with a roar
From down the back of the chair.
The chair, the chair, the challenging chair,
The champion chair, the cheerful chair,
The charming chair, the children’s chair,
The chopped and chipped but chosen chair
To think our fortune waited there
Down the back of the chair.

I can recreate the problem in the browser, but it works just fine in the mobile app. The browser interface is a recent addition, with the mobile app being the core focus. I did manage to work around it by typing quite quickly and I was always able to click back in the search field and add to what I had already typed. Less than ideal, but not impossible. I'd not actually used search myself, I used the various Explore options. I found a handful of people to follow from that and now it's growing organically for me as with any social graph.
If you go to your profile page, there is a settings icon, top left in the browser, and within there you can find Contact Support. It just launches a new email to hi@glass.photo.
About the camera models — yes it lists Pentax under Ricoh, but that is the current ownership — I assume it's based on photos in the library. Maybe there are no K500 photos uploaded yet.
As I mentioned, the mobile app was the main focus and it is supposed to be "photos to the front" with minimal distraction. It's been a little bit of a learning curve because of this, but there's not a lot to it once you poke around. It's kinda refreshing to be honest.
The only real beef I have with it is the limitations on the categories. I don't mind the limit of three — in fact that's a good idea — and I don't mind that there are a limited number to choose from, but I find some of the ones present over-specific where other areas are quite lacking. For instance, animal, cat, bird, wildlife — seems an odd mix. I'd have thought just wildlife, pet. Considering there is no dog. However, they do have a theme, I think once a month, which is based on a keyword. The current one is lines so maybe cat got there via that route. Meanwhile my aviation photos I generally put under vehicle but some people use aerial. I'll use both if the shot is of one flying.

Merry Christmas, All. Be well!
Thinking of the back country today (think either southern Kaimanawa or Ruahine ranges, pardon the smeary plane window).

That is the Kawekas in the mid ground with Kaweka J being the high point. Possibly the Kaimanawas in the foreground. Otutu hut and Manson Hut are in the Kawekas. Been there done them!
PS Merry Christmas.

Happy Christmas everyone.
It wasn't just the two legged inhabitants of our home enjoying Christmas dinner. I prefer my meat dead and cooked though. ;) |

Sorry to hear that, that must all be rather daunting.
If you need a hand with any Nikon menus, well, I may be able to help, but I'm more of a set it up once and leave it kinda guy.
My Grandma had a round tuit on her wall.
Club rugby is about to ramp up, so it's my busy season.

Well, work has been extremely busy lately, but I have been getting out for evening walks down Caroline Bay. Monday evening was nice and warm (still 21C at 8pm) and I was able to enjoy this stunning sunset.

It turns out the answer to this is ME!
I have finally found a decent workaround to my scanner problems, so yesterday I decided to get back into scanning my grandfather's slides. I moved the books that were on top of the slide box... and there was the DCU 5 CD.

Well it's that time of year again. Time to bring out an updated version of this shot which I first included here in 2015.
May your future hold whatever your idea of the perfect year end is, be that flocks of whānau, piles of kai, a getaway from the rat race, or, like me, just a quiet time without the usual pressures.

It is all about the editing. Still getting the hang of it.
The 1960s Soligor 800mm doing alright. Don't think there is much difference between wide open f8 and f11 but still working thru the images.
Probably noise is the biggest issue (somewhere around 1600 - 3200). The 500 guideline was spot on - 2 sec showed excessive movement - 0.7 seemed good.
What a lovely night - especially hearing a Kiwi out in the farm.

In December of 2009 I bought and Induro A213 Tripod and SA-23 Ball Head. I did change the QR to Arca type several years ago. I bought this at Midwest Photo Exchange in Columbus, Ohio where they probably have 30-50 tripods on display all of the time. I could see how sturdy it was and they had a deal going at the time and I wanted to get a good tall tripod. A couple of years ago the legs started getting loose at the hinge, so it would not stay out if you picked it up, I would tighten it, but it would loosen back after a while. I did a little research and found that they get loose when a cylinder in the hinge would get dry of corroded, I took it apart, had to drive the cylinders out, cleaned them and lubed them. This helped, but one of them would still get loose. I decided to contact Induro (MAC Group: Benro, Induro, and MeFoto) to inquire about replacement parts, so I emailed them Tuesday. They asked for photos and dimensions of the part. I sent those in and was told they don't have parts for that anymore, but they would send me a couple of used ones and three new slightly shorter cylinders. They did not charge me even for shipping and I got the parts yesterday (Saturday). I finished putting one of the used cylinders in this afternoon, it still feels firm after exercising it several times. I believe the shorter ones will also work. I have loved this tripod and now I'm even more impressed with the company. Attachment 581243 Attachment 581244
one of the used cylinders, my worn one. Kind of hard to see a difference. This cylinder is actually the pin in the leg hinge, it goes through the leg and the canopy Attachment 581247
The cylinder, washers that seat flush on the edge of the canopy, machine screws with external tooth lock washers that hold it in place. Attachment 581248
The bore through the canopy where the leg is attached, and the leg.
