Many thanks to everyone with your suggestions and your help. I have tweeked things a bit on my camera based on peoples suggestions but I've decided to take the advice of a few posters and invest in some faster glass. I really believe this is the best solution. Going to have to stick with my K7 as I can't afford to move up to the K5 even with a trade in. Besides, the camera is less than a year old and it would be too much of a loss to trade in.
Now my next dilemma is to choose a good f 2.8 70-200mm lens. I'm leaning towards Sigma glass at this point. don't need image stabilization as the K7 body already takes care of that.
Thanks again to all for your help.

Hi everyone,
I'm using a K7 to take photos of my daughter whom is a figure skater and I have been having trouble getting quality photographs. I want to blow-up to 8" x 10" size. I've been getting poor pics with a lot of noise and and very grainy results! I'm wondering if someone more knowledgeable than I can advise? The lens I'm using is a proprietary SMC DA 1:4-5.6 50-200mm ED WR
It has been a perplexing problem for me and the lighting conditions are not ideal in the arenas and are particularly challenging especially in concert with a high shutter speed that is required due to the fast motion/movement of the subject matter. No flash is being used as the subject matter is too far away. Because of the speed of the subject matter, it's important to take shots in continuous shooting mode. If anyone has experience in sports photography in poor lighting conditions I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on camera set-up to achieve quality results. Also, would it be better to take photos in Raw or JPEG format?
My camera Settings are as follows: ISO Sensitivity ( Auto Setting): 200-800 Exposure Mode: TAv (Shutter and Aperture Priority) Shutter Speed: 1/250 ( I would prefer a faster speed) Program line: high speed priority File Format: JPEG JPEG Recorded Pixels: 6 Mil JPEG Quality: Premium (4 stars) Shake Reduction: on Metering: Center-Weighted AutoFocus: AF.S AF Point: Center Image Finishing Tone: Bright Exposure Compensation: +4 Continuous Shooting mode: (Hi) White Balance: AWB Auto Highlight Correction: Off Shadow Correction: Low Distortion Correction: Off Lat-Chromatic-Ab-Adj: Off HDR Capture: Off Digital Filter: Off Extended Bracketing: Off
Many thanks in advance,

Hello to all,
My apologies, I'm a bit late in my introduction as I have posted on the beginners thread already. Long time Pentax enthusiast (runs in the family). I have an all black Pentax S3 film SLR, vintage early 1960's according to my Dad. The S3 was my Dad's staple family camera that he has left to me. It still works and takes great pics. Mechanical shutter hasn't failed in all these years... testament to Pentax build quality.
I recently invested in a new K-7 which I'm thrilled with. What a compact beauty. The K-7 doesn't feel a lot bigger than my S3, a little thicker in depth and height (marginally) but if you can believe it, the K7 is actually 5/8" less in width than the S3!
I'm not a digital techie so I'm having a few issues in uploading pics with photo resolution degradation of which I have outlined and have asked for advice on the beginners thread. Little bit of a learning curve for me to say the least. :)
Glad to be here and all the best to everyone,
John

I tried to send an example but it didn't work. Pentax forum error response -"Upload failed- please check the filesize."
It appears my images are very large. The photo I tried to upload to the Pentax forum as an example is 6.47 MB in size and photo dimensions are 4672 x 3104 in jpeg format.

My Board site says that photos are auto-cropped to fit 512 x 384 when uploaded. Now i have to find a way to scale my photos to this size format!. :o Also, not sure how to adjust jpeg compression either.

Thank-you to everyone for your sound advice an suggestions. It is greatly appreciated. I haven't had a chance to connect with my Real estate board office regarding my problem but I shall be contact them regarding my issues next week.
However, I found out today from a fellow realtor that i can upload my photos directly to the Board office myself instead of sending them to my Brokerage first for processing. ( I was wondering whether my own brokerage administration personnel were rescaling my photos and causing the problem.) This will effectively eliminate the middle person and reduce chances of photo manipulation and compression.
As everyone has suggested, once I find out what file size format that my Real Board image hosting site uses, hopefully this will resolve my problem. I'm not a computer techie myself, so I may have a few problems rescaling my photos to my boards parameters, but I'll I'll figure it out eventually.
Again, many thanks to everyone for your help and I'll keep you posted as to my progress in solving this issue.

Hi all,
Newbie checking in!!
I'd greatly appreciate if someone could help me solve photo resolution problems/issues I'm currently experiencing. I purchased the K-7 about a month ago and things have been going great and I'm extremely happy with the camera. Although my primary purpose for the camera is for personal use, I also looked forward to utilizing the camera in work applications being that I am a licenced realtor.
Part of my job requires me to take quality photographs of properties that I have listed For Sale. My problem has been in uploading my photos to my brokerage and local real estate board for processing.
I have been taking the photos in jpeg format which is what my board has requested. The pictures have been shot primarily at 10 or 14 million pixels resolution. After taking the pics the photos are brilliant and crystal clear on my camera rear display. However after i send them on to my board for processing or my brokerage, the photos are displayed in very poor quality. Extremely grainy no matter what film speed the pictures were taken at. This is quite frustrating. There probably a simple answer to this. I know that it is possible to upload high quality/resolution images to my board system because I've seen other realtor images of high quality on the system.
I've tried many things to solve the problem with no success. I.E. sending the photos in smaller sizes and at different pixel resolutions. I have been using adobe photoshop starter kit to organize and transfer my images to my local board.
I'm stumped! not sure what to do. I was going to try raw format but I've been told that jpeg is the way to go for real estate processing.
hope someone can enlighten me,
JohnAllan
