I think you might be losing sight of the fact that most pros who are serious about it have a dedicated trigger system that is far more controllable than using onboard flash to trigger speedlights.

I'll tell you what though, all this full frame speculation it is a great time to be someone who is staying crop sensor. The market here is flooded with great crop sensor glass for cheap. Lol

But in the US, in the states that are more gun friendly the chance of being robbed is slim. I have a conceal carry license, try and rob me and I am almost certain I can change a mind or two. Texas is one of those awesome places that allow people to protect themselves rather than become victims.

Hiked the 4.5 mile trail up to Glacier Point late in the summer. I snapped a couple of shots I wanted to share with you all. |

When my wife gives away cds she only gives away 50% sized files, she also offers the customer the option of printer(she uses mpix.com)
If you are to get anything that is going to help you, make some custom flash diffusers and reflectors that way you can control the light more.

I typically take 3 lenses, normally two primes and a zoom. If I were in your shoes I would stick the Sigma 35 on the body and be done(if you're going lightweight)
The 16-45 is a massive upgrade from the kit lens and is going to be a better walk around from a prime .
A 7 week vacation is a long time to go on a couple lenses. I might consider a 18-135 WR or a 17-70 SDM. Those lenses would cover a broad focal range and cut down on the amount you need to carry, at the same time giving you better IQ and sharpness vs the kit lens.
