Yes, it is the WR version. It's an early Father's Day gift. :D

I just got my new Pentax 55-300 from Adorama yesterday and had to try it out on my K-3.

I just came across this link. If you are looking to purchase the Adobe Lightroom CC, the regular price is $9.99 per month (plus tax). The link I found will save you $2.00 a month ($7.99 plus tax). https://creative.adobe.com/promo/PhotoSergeCCPP?sdid=KTVUT
(For some reason I had to use Firefox for this to work)

If it were me, I’d wait for the K-1 to come out and then pickup a used K-3. You might find a used K-3 at a pretty good price.

My new/used Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 arrived yesterday and I just had to try it out. The bird photo was taken through our kitchen window, as it was just too darn cold to go outside.
K-3, 500mm at 1/250, F9 and ISO 800.

I don't remember the lens I used, but I took this photo using my K-x.

If you don’t have a macro lens and wish to try macro photography, pick up a couple of cheap teleconverters and remove the glass. In the attached photo, I used two teleconverters on a 135mm lens. |

Thank you for the input Marc. After reading more on the Ev setting, I came to the same conclusion; Ev was not what I was looking for.
It is interesting that you felt the first picture was better and really I guess what I was looking for. I know computer monitors are all different and what looked good to me on this monitor, may not be what looks good to someone else. I guess the only sure way is to make a print of the image and then compare the results.

I think I may have solved my problem using EV compensation. By setting it one click towards the plus side, I am getting photos that seem to be correct (in my eyes). I am going to have to take some more photos outside (if it ever warms up a bit) to see if this setting works for me.
Want to thank all for the helpful comments.

I tried this and it worked great other then in the Auto Picture mode. From what I have observed or found, there is no way to change settings (contrast) for that mode. So, unless I want to edit each photo, I will avoid that mode and stick with manual or one of the other modes that uses the Custom Image options.

Just1MoreDave, I did try the different f settings and that did not seem to help. I am going to do some more playing tomorrow... Thanks for the help.

I was looking at the menu of options and found where I can adjust the setting. I will have to play with them tomorrow. Thanks for the comments KxBlaze.

I have a new Kx and in my opinion am having some issues with contrast on my photos. Also it does not seem to matter what lens I use. I have tried the Vivitar 135mm 1:2.8 - Pentax 28-80 SMC FA 1:35-5.6, Pentax SMC DAL 1:3.5-5.6 18-55 AL, Pentax SMC FAJ 1:4.5-5.8 75-300MM AL, all with the same results.
Both of the following photos were taken without a flash.
The first photo is one that has not been adjusted in Photoshop.
The second one has had the contrast adjusted.
I have looked in the manual for some setting that might help with the contrast issue to no avail. Can someone point me in the right direction?
