That would be great! Thank you... and, if possible could you also re-check the green check mark for me? So, when it comes to the "tenths" shutter speed, just round to the closest number... is that right?
Thanks so much for your help!!!
Sincerely, Davina =)

Thanks, Adam... but, I can't get into the thread to reselect the checkmark, or do anything. I see the photo when I click on the attachment from the forum list, but nothing when I click on my thread specifically. From reading other posts, it seems like some others are having the same problem. As long as you can see it and I can be part of the voting, that's all that matters. I really just wanted to reselect the checkmark and update my shutter speed (once I find out the eqivalent to .8... to me that is 8/10, but I don't see that option on the pull down list. I did write it in my comments, though. Can you see those???)
Sorry to be such a bother...

Hi, Adam...
I submitted my photo in a new thread on Contest Submissions. I see it listed, but when I try to open it nothing is there. Did I do something wrong? Please advise... without being able to see it I can't edit or revise it. Oh, and my shutter speed is .8... how does that translate to the drop down list? 1/8s?
Thank you!
Davina
P.S. I also accidentally turned off the green checkmark which I think notifies me if anyone responds to my submission or post... how do I get that back? Sorry!

Sorry, my Pentax program is not working so I cannot retrieve the EXIF data... I just imagine this bee thoroughly enjoying those flowers to an intoxicating degree! How much joy is that??? ;)

Does anyone know where I can get a good DSLR log book to keep record of my photo details? I am to the point of making my own, but if there is one out there somewhere I'd like to look at it!
Thanks!

Thank you everybody for the insightful comments. I do realize now for certain that I am just getting to know the techniques of DSLR photography, that I have a great camera to work with, and that it is just going to take time and a lot of effort to maximize my potential.
I really appreciate the instructions for photos. I did change the permissions... that was the problem. But, with the new uploading info maybe I can get them to be the right size, too!!!
As for the pet peeve, this is a beginner's forum so naturally I am here to learn. No offense taken.
I have incorporated some of the things I have learned in this thread, and will be posting some new and improved photos soon!

Without the result being quite so beautiful, kind of yes! I have set my AF to center, and will report back once I can take a good group of test shots. Thanks!!!

Hello...
I am terribly frustrated right now. I got this new K7 from my husband because I love photography and needed to move up from a point and shoot. He wanted to get me something I would not grow out of quickly. No problems with that here!!!
I can't even get my pictures in focus. The camera zeroes in on one spot, and one spot only, to put in focus and the rest is uncrisp or even blurry. I have determined that it is no longer my hand shaking... although it did take me a while to get used to the weight of the camera and its lens.
I just can't take a picture for the sake of taking a picture even! If one thing is in focus, everything else isn't. I have tried auto mode, p mode, tv mode, and manual mode. Someone on another thread said it might be the lens... that the lenses may not have kept up with the technology of the camera. I have a Pentax DA SMC 18-55mm lens right now. Once I get something that I think is focused, I try to take the picture and the camera re-focuses it for me anyway.
Granted, I am still reading my book... but, I would think that a camera straight out of the box would take a decent picture without manipulating any settings yet.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong? It very well could be me... but, I just tried to take a picture of my husband's new motorcycle and they are awful. With a camera of this price, I would expect them to be crystal clear!
Here are a couple of examples:
Nothing in focus...
Again, nothing in focus...
Here are a few other technical examples I have:
A few flowers are in focus... that's it.
No focus...
And again, only one tiny spot "may" be in focus...
I am sorry for my ignorance... but, if anyone has ANY suggestions... please help!!! I am not even in to the advanced stuff yet, because I can't even take a simple picture!!!
Sorry so long... Thank you in advance for any contributions!
Davina
P.S. Any suggestions as to how not to compress the images too much so you can actually see what I am talking about would be great, too!!! LOL

I noticed after I posted here that there is also a thread for beginners... but, thanks for your kind response! I think I will hang out over there until I get a bit more seasoned, though... Lots to learn!!! :p
By the way... I have done some more practice shots and seem to be getting a -tiny- bit better... and, I do understand what you mean...
Thanks!

Hi... I am brand new and recently got the K-7 and I have a Pentax DA 18-55mm lens. I am having the same trouble both in far away shots as well as close-ups. I am practicing my stance and holding techniques to reduce shake, but I can't seem to get things focused a lot (even most) of the time. I will try to attach a couple of examples... I have no other recorder details other than the images themselves:
There should be a way to take a plain everyday picture that has everything in focus, like with a point and shoot. Right? The meadow is blurry, the flowers have maybe two that are semi-in-focus, and the shot glasses aren't focused at all. Is it me shaking, or is there a technique or setting I should be dealing with?
I am going to a DSLR class soon, but want to know if it is me or the camera! I had a Canon Rebel at one time and did not have this problem. Where should I start to troubleshoot?
P.S. Maybe I shrank the pictures too much... I guess we'll see when I hit POST!
Thanks!
