Hej...
I am looking for a SMC Pentax-FA 50mm F1.7 to go with my K20D...
I don't care so much about cosmetics, but it should be in good working condition with no fungus, oil, scratches or something similar.

I am using KDE and therefore Shotwell is not really what I am looking for....I had a look at DigiKam...and I find this project promising...however, my first comparison...I somehow like darktable....maybe I got a time to write an extensive comparison of digikam and darktable.....but this won't be before September

I took my SLR camera on a two weeks Himalya Trip. In fairness it wasn't a digital SLR since at that point I only owned an analog one. But it was totally worth it. If you only take one or two lenses with you..you should be fine. I kept the camera in its bag in my bagback and got it out for special occasions. And for those pictures you then just love your SLR...and don't want to miss the shots..It needs a bot of planning but you should be fine.

Basically I haven't had a look at rawtherapee yet. However, darktable uses some information from rawtherapee as plugins for processing.

Hej...
I am a Linux User and I am searching for a RAW processing program like Lightroom. Lightroom is not available for Linux. On my search I past Lightzone and Bibble 5 and found Darktable. That seems to be a quit young program but it looks pretty cool and it is open source. Has anyone any experience with that program and does it detect Pentax cameras? Are there any other Linux Users in this Forum and which programs are you using to precess your RAW images. Darktable is also available for mac...it can be found her darktable | news and an interesting screencast here The p-Code Machine Darktable Overview Screencast
Any knowledge about that program...or do you know a better one open or e closed source? I am happy for any input

Since I've never shoot any videos, since that is not possible with an analog SLR :) I don't know what I am missing out....But I never had the feeling "Now I want to shoot a video instead of a picture" So I guess I will go for a second hand K20D...thanks for the support....

I totally agree....I would always choose the Kx over the Canon or Nikon...but the decision between K20D and Kx is much harder...did the soft- and hardware in the time from the presentation of the K20D advance so much that the Kx is the logical choice or is the development incremental enough that I should go for the K20D?

I don't know whether this is the right place in the forum...But I am asking myself the same question. However, I nailed it down to two cameras.
The Pentax K-x or the K20D.
I know that those two cameras have a different target audience...but I don't really know which one I am. I am certainly not a SLR beginner. I am shooting SLR pictures since a couple of years (I guess 5 or so). Nevertheless, I am an DSLR beginner. So far I am still shooting analog. At the moment I want to change that. I have quite severe budget constraints, and at the moment you get the K20D (second hand) for the same price as the K-x. I certainly can't stretch my budget to the K-7 that's not doable. As you all know the K-x is en par with the Canikon 500D and D5000which are much more expensive. I am happy for any advice.
Thanks
