Thanks Clark. The original was cropped so I can probably redo it to correct that angled step - it's a helpful comment, thanks. I didn't want to spoil their expressions by distracting them and taking an obvious photo, so it was a very quick photo "on the hoof"!

We were rattling along a bumpy track through Ranthambore Park, looking for tigers (unsuccessfully) when this stag appeared between the bushes and paused in a gap for a second, just looking at us.
Should I crop it further or leave it with the blurry leaves all round like a frame?

The original high res is sharper but I'm kinda fond of this shot which reminds me of a great holiday and coming across this group of scruffy brightly dressed kids enjoying each other's company. Check out the filthy feet!

I have to agree but it was handheld and taken quickly as we were with a group of people on a geology walk, not really a photography shoot :)

I looked up from the road and saw these trees on the bankside above me and liked the slightly different angle

Confusing? Certainly is but I think I understand it slightly better and, as several of you suggest, I'll ask for more info from the print company and take it from there. I did find on the web some software called Akvas Magnifier which wasn't prohibitively expensive so might try the 10 day trial to see how it does - unless anyone out there has any experience of it?

Right, I gotcha, thanks. So by making the size larger would be if I checked resample and then it would make the pixels bigger too and go blocky. They don't have any specs on the site, so I'll just have to go back to them and ask but I was trying not to appear too dumb!! Even if I am dumb :)

I've got the opportunity to post images to a gallery that produces large canvas wall art prints and I'm really keen to do it. They have asked for high res images. When I use my K20 even at the highest setting I get image sizes of 4672 x 3104 pixels at 72 dpi. Is 72 dpi going to be a high enough res for printing large canvases? How can I get a higher res than that without losing quality?
Thanks in advance for much appreciated help :)

Thanks for your replies. I guess you must both be right. I thought I had chosen the Raw+Jpeg option but it doesn't seem to have worked or I didn't do it properly. Lesson learned! Now I'll take more care for the future. Bother, bother, bother, kick the dog, snap at the husband, bother!

Thanks for the reply. I'm OK with accessing the images as Jpegs but can't find the raw files either with Silkypix or with Photoshop Elements, except for one image. Since then it looks like I don't have any in RAW yet the only one I got was totally at random and too much of a coincidence that I got the only one saved in raw. I'm sure the rest are there somewhere, grrrr!

Hi
I'm from Inverness, Scotland - hence the silly name!
I was fortunate enough to get a K20D from the insurance company to replace a film SLR that was damaged. Now I have to learn to use the darned thing. Thanking people in advance for answering my questions and I hope you haven't heard them all before

I think I took a lot of shots with the RAW+Jpeg mode checked. Please can anyone tell me how to access the Raw files to work on? In simple language please because I'm not very techie :(
