Hi guys I haven't visited in a while so have not updated the index.
Additionally it seems my photos that were hosted at Photobucket will no longer be linked in the forum as they are asking folks to upgrade to paid accounts.
I don't really have time to deal with any of this ATM.
If it is important and if someone is interested in maintaining the index send me an email to lnavarro1 at yahoo dot com and I can send the you the excel files and program that is used to create the index.

The K-5 had the quietest shutter, every Pentax before and since has not matched it IMO. (Mirrored Pentax of course.)

I posted this to stimulate the discussion and also as a warning that there are those out there who believe violence is a justified response.
I practice street photography on occasion and have deleted photos when requested.

On a couple of trips to hot humid areas to shoot birds and wildlife I have taken the DA*300 and DA18-135 on two bodies.
The IQ of the DA*300 shows beautifully and leaves the 18-135 lacking when I use it. I suspect the IQ would be similar to the 55-300 which I do not own.
I now have a DA*50-135 which has IQ on par with the *300 and it will be my lens choice pair for these trips.
The 300 is a lightweight tele IMO and I have no problem carrying it around all day and shooting it hand held.

Curious why I would want to use the TC with the K-1?
If I am looking for a telephoto application isn't the K-3 and other APS-C format a better choice?

If you already have a 60-250 going to a 300 wont get you significant more reach if that is the goal.
The DA*300 is a lovely lens and I love mine but you can get the same field of view by cropping your shots from the 60-250.
If you want reach then add the HD 1.4TC or look into the 150-450 or one of the Sigma 500mm zooms.

With a zoom factor of 10 the Sigma 50-500 actually does really well keeping image quality throughout its zoom range.
I'm pretty sure this is not what the OP was looking for though.
