Here is an update about my problem with 645d: after exactly 3 months that it's been on repair service, 645d finaly came back to me. But, unfortunately, I did not make any tests about the line streak or split sensor issue, because after only a few shoots I decided to send my camera to repair service again because I found a new problem which didn't exist earlier (before the repair). I don't know exactly how to describe this problem, but now I cannot view images in the viewfinder normaly. The image is blurred and there is no way to correct it and get a clear view with the diopter correction slider. Autofocus works well I think (but I can not be 100% sure) and images taken on that way are ok (not blury) but when the image is in focus - in the viewfinder I see it blury. If I try to focus manualy, I can get the image in viewfinder much clearer (not 100% clear) but images taken on that way have the focus moved a lot. The problem is much more visible with a 35mm lens - when I turn the focusing ring to infinity, the image in viewfinder is very blury. With a 200mm lens the image in viewfinder is much less blury but still is blury.
The seller asked me if I have problems with my eyes??? But 3 months back - the viewfinder on this camera worked fine. I also have a new K-5 II and K-r and on those cameras I see the image in viewfinder completely clear and right.
I can get the green icons in the viewfinder of 645d completly clear but not the image coming from the lens.
The repair service staff tells my seller and he tells me that after all repairement the camera was checked and marked as good but I found that it isn't.
What will happend next I don't know :-(

@672, It would be great if you could write more about your story. Did you replace 2nd body too or you live with that? In my case split problem occurs rarely, most images are fine. I didn't make any tests to see under which conditions split problem occurs. Maybe your answer will help me to find that. Thanks!

I love this camera and won't change it. Most time it works perfect for me and it is the best camera that I ever have. I have Nikon d300 as a back-up and Pentax K-r. I am ex owner of K20d and K-5.

Hi dear Pentaxians!
I urgently need advice about what to do with my Pentax 645d.
Here is the explanation about it:
In november, last year, I buy Pentax 645d (new).
Few months after using it I noticed that camera has split sensor problem (left and right side of taken image haven't the same colors, there is exact line in the middle of image where this difference is very noticeable).
There is also one more issue - line streak (2 lines in image, one is blue, one is magenta), which occurs from time to time. It is much more visible on 1600 ISO, but sometime it is on 100 ISO too (usualy visible in dark areas).
I returned camera to seller (on May, 13th) and they sent it to France (Pentax main center for this part of Europe).
Today I received email from my seller. Seller forward message (answer to my problem) from Pentax France.
Here is the exact copy of this email:

Sorry for the belated reply. About tone difference issue, we just received informations from Japan this morning. As explained below, it is due to the medium Format specification. We cannot modify this tone difference phenomenom. This phenomenon is not isolated and is found on most Midium Format digital cameras, regardless of the manufacturer. The separation is caused by the composition of the two sensors that form one sensor, this part of the specification. The tone difference can be visible when shooting underexposed areas and / or when the image is subjected to a post adjustement by software. Contrast settings, brightness... accentuate the difference. The tone difference will be less visible if the image is taken in good conditions of exposure. PM2S is also informed, you normally should receive the camera back soon. The blue pixel line is now fixed. We hope the customer could accept these explanations. Best regards and have a nice day.
....................... end of email ............................
Now, WHAT SHOULD I DO ????
What you can suggest about whole thing?
I will gona get crazy about it.
Much appreciated any kind of help.
(sorry about my English grammar but hope you will understand what I mean in this thread)

@672: The split sensor problem also occurs on a real image (the attached image here is only a test image, with caps on its lens). The difference on a real image is not that obvious (I have to look very carefuly) but it is there. Also, at first I thought there was only one pixel line but there were actually 2 lines, one line on each half of the image (red on the left side and blue on the right side).

Just a little update on my previous post: - a blue line is visible on ISO 100 as well. It's much harder to find it on ISO 100 than on ISO 1600 but it's there. The line is most visible on dark tones and on ISO 1600 the line goes from 4/5 under the top straight to the bottom of image. I will definitely return my camera and ask to fix it. The shutter counter has 444 actuations. I tried with pixel mapping but nothing happend, the blue line is still there.

I have the same problem on 1600 ISO with my copy of 645d. The line in my case is blue and occurs on the right side. I will try with pixel mapping, but if this doesn't help I will return the camera (one month old).

Today i sell my K20d and ordered new K-5 (and will must wait for one month to arrive).
I have AC adaper for K20d D-AC50 (buyer don't want it).
My question is - can i use this adapter on K-5?
K-5 AC adapter have different name: K-AC50.
Is those two adapters are identical (except letters in names) or i will must sell D-AC50 and buy new K-AC50 for new K-5?
Regards

"Hey folks... I was wondering if anyone knows more details about the power contacts on the FA power zooms (the two pins at 5'o'clock of a KAF2 mount). Is it a DC voltage? If so, how many volts and which is power vs ground."
I think you looking at SDM power contacts on your camera. I don't know nothing about FA power zooms except that Pentax Z-1 have possibility to use power zoom lens (recently i bough that camera and read it in user manual).

Go to MENU, Custom Setting, function 29, "Flash in Wireless Mode" and set it to "2" (off). Fires built-in flash as controller in Wireless Mode.
Also set Flash Mode in FN to Wireless Mode.
Hope this helps :-)

I have the same problem with older manual focus lenses on my K20d. After some testing found that the best way to get correct exposure is pressing green buton while lens is wide open and after that choose smaller aperture and manualy correct shutter speed (depend how f/stops you close aperture). This is simple, just must know how is EV step defined in your setup (1/2 or 1/3). This give me very good results.
Modern autofocus lenses are wide open whole time (until you press "shut" and take photo) and correct exposure is calculated automaticaly whatever combination you choose. There is no need to close aperture to see what is the right shutter speed. In manual focus lenses body can not do this automaticaly but principle with metering wide open is the same, only corrections you have to made yourself (instead camera). Hope you understand me.
