So you're the one that outbid me! Congrats! I picked up one of the ones listed with the front focus issue. Got it today, and so far it is working like a charm. Even if the FF problem is a bad one, I'll mostly be shooting with manual lenses, so no biggie!

An old steamer from the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia. The 509 sits in front of the Cookeville Depot Museum in Putnam County, TN. I've taken several photos of this old engine, but I like this most recent shot. Head On by Jamfke, on Flickr

Is the rubber grip on the focus ring loose? If the focus ring is somewhat stiff, a loose grip might be slipping around the ring. It might feel like the focus ring is turning, but it might just be the grip. I've had an older lens do this before.

I am sad at his passing. I didn't know him well enough, only through his contributions in the Single Ins when I was playing. I remember the well wishes thread, "Flowers for Bruce," and how his love for flowers seemed to be his passion. My little girl loves giving dandelions, and their precursor puff balls to her favorite people, so here is one for Bruce. Pretty by Jamfke, on Flickr

Good to hear you're about to get back home soon! It will be nice to see how you handle that K-3! I hope they figure out what needs to be done so you can stay away from that place as long as possible! Good luck!

One thing that can help is having a lot of folks following you on Flickr. Usually if you post a really awesome image, they'll Fave it when it shows up in their feed. You can also submit your photos to the various groups you may belong to, but do it as soon as you upload the image. The algorithm that picks the images for Explore will drop your shot from their roll if you begin adding it to groups after it hits the list.

I hope my camera can make it through December for this next challenge. I accidentally knocked my K-x off my desk, sending it smashing into the floor as if it were launched from a catapult. It cracked the foot plate on the corner where the battery door hinge is located, and sent the battery door flying. My precious M 50 1.4 went along for the ride too. Luckily, nothing happened to the lens! I fixed the battery door (for now), but upon further investigation, I found that the Auto/Manual switch on the camera is stuck in the manual position. The Auto screw on the mount is fully extended, and still works when I attach an AF lens to the camera.
All that said, I still plan to give it a go for Bokehcember with the Super Tak 55 1.8. Hoping to give all the 1.4's, 1.7's and those dreaded 1.2's a run for their money!
Glad to see you jumping back in too Rense! Can't wait to see what you are cooking up!
Iris, Rense needs a shooting buddy! Don't leave him hanging! Hope you'll reconsider!

Don't take offense to my comments on your photos with that lens. I'll just be trying to convince you to sell, and then I'll make an offer! :D
